Thanks for the reply and clarification, Tiffany. As someone who has hosted shows, and large events, such as the NHL All-Star Game, where a lot of those hockey players had to extremely difficult names to pronounce, I would suggest spelling it phonetically. That way you say it correctly, though it’s not technically spelled correctly. It’s also sad that people who worked with you, who should know NFL players and coaches names, and are there to help you do your job properly, gave you the wrong answers… BUT I believe there’s no excuse to not do the proper research to make sure a name is pronounced correctly, and a situation like this doesn’t happen. It’s emceeing 101… We all screw up, and I’m sure the league, Patriots fans, and Mike appreciate the apology. This post was also not a dig at your reading challenges either, but Mike deserved better than having his name mispronounced twice in the biggest moment of his career (so far).
