If you take descriptive adjectives such as 'black' or 'gay' away from the word woman, 'woman' continues to carry its usual meaning, ie, adult human female. 'Trans woman' is a compound noun, with a space or not. Take away 'trans' and, by definition, you've got a man.

@jk_rowling The word "woman" comes from the Old English word wīfmann, which is a combination of wīf, meaning wife, and Mann. Just to use your same logic back at you this would mean the word woman is a compound word. So if we take away the ‘wo’, should we just refer to you as a man too? 🤷‍♂️
