Yes it has American tech and yes it's more a 4+ than an #F35 equivalent at this stage, though KAI have made it known future blocks wil bring it closer to that standard with features such as an internal weapons bay.

But as @CDNPolicyHawk and others have rightly pointed out, there is the issue of a capability gap as the CF-18's time out. So delivery time would be a factor.

@LatinMilAv @mason_8718 At first I assumed that too. I looked at the RFP and saw that it was basically purpose written for GDLS to win an award to build the LAV6 10x10 portion of that contract.
With the current revelation that KNDS the maker of the RCH155 can't produce at much of a scale yet.

🇪🇸🤝🇰🇷 Breaking News. Hanwha Aerospace and Indra have officially agreed to partner on Spain's next-generation self-propelled howitzer program. This project is considered a key undertaking for the Spanish military and is estimated to be worth 4.5 billion euros. The project comprises a total of approximately 330 units, including 128 next-generation self-propelled howitzers, 128 ammunition resupply vehicles, 21 recovery vehicles, and 59 command and control vehicles.
Spain will lead the platform design and production based on K9, while Hanwha will exclusively supply key components.
Also, partnering with Spain makes it easier to target the Latin American market.
Meanwhile, Hanwha Aerospace is focusing on the simultaneous development of the next-generation self-propelled howitzer K9A2 and the ultra-long-range system K9A3.

@LatinMilAv @mason_8718 That system is the RCH-155. That Howitzer System can be mounted on a Boxer/LAV6 (10x10) chassis. Both being wheeled.
Where that's a problem is that wheeled will always be less stable than Tracked systems. Stability = Accuracy.

@ShaneWenzel Legal gun owner here, not effected by the confiscation - agree with you. This program is a shambles and might well die at the SCC if not just death by a thousand cuts. Criminals in our cities regularly use illegal firearms smuggled from the US.. 1/

I’m not a gun owner, but I respect the right of law-abiding Canadians to own firearms. What happened to Nathalie Provost was horrific, there's no question. But decades later, targeting legal owners instead of criminals and illegal guns isn’t the answer. Bans and buybacks miss the real problem. Personal trauma is real, but it shouldn’t drive policy that punishes people who’ve done nothing wrong.

Every year, the remains of Canadian soldiers are still being discovered in farm fields in Belgium and Northern France.
Bert Detmold died for Canada over a century ago, but the recent discovery of his remains connects his sacrifice to our own time.
May Private Detmold rest in peace, and may we never forget the supreme sacrifice made for Canada by 118,000 of our fallen.

Someone very clearly gave the TPS a kick in the ass in recent weeks over the lacklustre performance over the last two and a half years. I dunno if what they're proposing will work, but they're certainly leaning into the visibility.
