Who needs a render graph when your render pipeline API looks this good?

I've been working on a Vulkan wavefront path tracer. My first path tracer was on Pentium 1 level hardware, it would have taken days to render a frame.

@TonyLaneNV 30% tip is normal now? If I go out for dinner, I spend about an hour there and about $100 between me and my partner, $30 tip, the waiter usually has 6 or 7 other tables, if they make the same tip from every table, that is $180 per hour in tips. That is 3 times developer wages.

Some say people still need a lesson in tipping. Others say it’s just common sense. Are you a good tipper regardless of service? ⬇️ 🇺🇸

@andrewpprice Are you talking about 3 year olds or just people with that mental capacity? AI slop is one of the most painful aspects of modern existence. Anyone with a functioning brain feels duped when they find out a video they liked was AI.

Comments like this sound deranged to anyone outside of the artist sphere. The audience that watches Pixar movies do not care that the hair gets misplaced for 3 frames.

@NikTek Because its not real time rendering. Its not usable for games or anything slightly dynamic.

@SebAaltonen 90% of my interactions with LLMs are trying to convince them to follow my instructions instead of just doing whatever they hell they want.

LLM failing to compile project. I am debugging it. Turns out it didn't follow the instructions in AGENTS.MD file. LLMs response when I asked whether the build steps are missing in AGENTS.MD: > Yes. It is already in AGENTS.md, and I should have followed it.

Looks like a bug in MSVC’s std::format: in debug builds it sometimes allocates with _malloc_dbg (or another internal heap allocation method) but frees with delete. My repro shows delete on a pointer that was never created by new. Might be a mismatch between CRT allocators.

I was annoyed by this terrible programmer meme because neither python nor C/C++ have built in bubble sort. But I don't know python that well so I asked cgpt, and it spat out letter for letter the exact same text that was in the meme... I thought they used some randomness?

I really love my job writing a cross platform Vulkan renderer for BIM data (from revit etc.) - With my renderer we can visualize massive architectural models like the building data for an entire sky scraper (61 floors), at insane frame rates on low power GPUs.

I wanted to know if WebGPU had anything like VK_KHR_draw_indirect_count, and it drew me a freaking visualization 🤣🤣

@olson_dan I wish people would stop using these vile crowd sourced services, literally nothing about food delivery got better with them, and everything got worse because they drove all of the normal delivery drivers out of the market.

My favorite restaurant stopped accepting orders from any of the top 5-ish most popular delivery apps, and I'm wondering what the economics behind that look like.

A neighbor recommended a friend of hers who does cleaning with her daughter for $20 an hour, so I payed them $40 an hour and still payed half of the quote I got for cleaning, now that is 200% efficiency instead of 15%, and they did and absolutely amazing job!

@BattleAxeVR This is why there is a housing crisis, the inefficiency is so high that no one can afford to build houses. 1/3rd of the cost is labor, 1/3rd is materials, and 1/3rd is inefficiency that gives you nothing for your money.

I fixed the TAA bug causing the black borders, so now it's just a bit noisy but a bit of hole filling or noise filtering should clear that up :> I just love this algorithm so much 🥰 I feel like I'm a wizard doing black magic. Thank you for your gift to the world @_cwyman_!

@BattleAxeVR I was just outputting black when the motion vector caused off-screen lookups instead of the latest frame information.
