Anni should lead MDP, strategically, until he dies. Strategic means not day to day. The pressures of ego and legacy building are at their strongest on a new leadership while the founder is still alive. A new leader naturally wants to make their own mark and prove they are not just a caretaker. The easiest way to do this is to distance themselves from the founder even if it means reversing the party’s own policies. This is exactly what Ibu did. Driven by ego and the need to assert his independence while Anni is still alive, visible, influential and supported by many loyal followers, he moved away from numerous MDP policies that Anni had shaped and written. Even if a young leadership takes over, competitive anti founder factions such as Ibu’s group would still try to influence and brainwash younger minds, encourage them to challenge the founder and abandon core MDP policies. That is why a completely fresh leadership is most effective only once the founder and others of his generation are no longer present.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Once the founder is gone, they become an untouchable symbol. Reversing their core ideas then risks being seen by the party base as a betrayal of the legacy. This is the moment for MDP to lock in Anni’s guiding role permanently. Handing the party to a non founder while Anni remains active would only invite the very ego driven reversals we have already witnessed. The party’s identity was built on Anni’s long struggle, so keeping him at the helm for as long as possible and train future leaders is the surest way to protect that identity. We must preserve MDP’s ideological purity. A new leader can take over once Anni is gone. Given his age, he is likely to remain active and influential for at least another 25 years. That is why we should begin training today’s 18 year olds now, so they are ready to carry the party forward when the time comes.
