Metabolic adaptations of brain metastasis buff.ly/WrODPJg Brain🧠 metastases present a significant clinical challenge due to their high mortality and limited treatment options, driven by complex and dynamic metabolic adaptations that allow tumor cells to survive and grow within the brain’s unique microenvironment. These adaptations differ depending on the tumor's origin, genetic makeup, and ability to tolerate nutrient stress, with proliferative and dormant cells showing distinct metabolic profiles. Cancer cells rewire key metabolic pathways—such as glucose, fatty acid, and amino acid metabolism—not only for their own survival but also to manipulate brain-resident cells to support metastasis.
