@RichFromRail The loss of ops skills by signallers and delay attribution staff is astonishing and a result of privatisation.

Slightly unusual cause, but RAIB's report into the Denbigh derailment was caused by a wrong path being implemented, subsequently not picked up by the signalling staff when the train arrived at the points...

The Mauritian Government now says that taking Chagos is a matter of justice. Islands that Mauritius has never possessed, that are as far as London from St Petersburg, that they were paid off for back in the 1960s to ensure that there were no suprious claims. @UKLabour should never have indulged in this decolonising nonsense. Across the world we are now seen as weak. telegraph.co.uk/world-news/202…

@tw_pjm @IoWBobSeely @UKLabour Very much agree but 14 years of austerity can't be fixed in20 months. The former IOW MP seems to have forgotten his shoddy governments.

Establishing root cause of delay is important to target improvements. New delay attribution method under test👇

All of us at The RHT were saddened to hear of the recent death of Sir Neil Cossons. Best known as a former Director of the Science Museum, Sir Neil was for many years a member of the RHT Advisory Panel, & a strong advocate of railway heritage. Our condolences to his family.

"One begins to imagine that Europe is for Sir Keir some form of psychological comfort blanket behind which he will be able to hide his inability to fulfil his role." Great piece from @IoWBobSeely on the latest crisis to expose the continued inadequacies of our current Government

We've let our allies down. Rehashing recent events as a scene from Love Actually doesn't disguise that. It doesn't mean Britain should have joined the attacks on Iran, but it does mean we should have been smarter. We can't afford to be dumb or indecisive. We've been both. @Marshrail @BBC3CR @RMTunion @chilternrailway "safety critical" means a train can't leave without a guard, even if there's a problem with a guard making it to commence a service. It doesn't mean that the task of opening doors is so critical to safety that it must be done by a guard. But you already knew that 😉

@Marshrail @BBC3CR @RMTunion @chilternrailway Good question. I see RSSB are on the record as saying that camera controlled despatch is significantly safer that 'platform' despatch. So to better understand RMT concerns would at least move us forward.

The size of the "Shahid" compared to cars. In just one week, Russia deployed over 3,000 attack drones against Ukraine, and a large proportion of them were "Shahids." Europe must give Ukraine the ability to destroy Russian manufacturing facilities with long-range weapons.

The clocks change this weekend, signalling British Summer Time. Last year Railway 200 produced a video, filmed at the Royal Observatory Greenwich, on the history of time and rail’s central role in getting it standardised. The growth of the railways required a standard time to be introduced to avoid accidents and timetable confusion as trains travelled through different local time zones. Who better to explain it all than Dr Emily Akkermans, Curator of Time at Royal Museums Greenwich. If you haven't already, check out the full video here youtu.be/skloRWBZV88?si…
