This is obvious. At the same time, millions of jobs are being created, from AI trainers to data center builders — and of course, my favorite, startups! we will have massive job displacement and creation at the same time. The Trump administration will claim these are because of the President's brilliance, while the democrats and America First crowd will say President Trump double-crossed them by not deporting 20 million immigrants and by allowing H1B abuse. It’s a concerning amount of destruction combined with early signs of a boom for select jobs. We will get through it, but it will be chaotic and challenging,

This whole thing ends in one of two ways: A negotiated payment to everyone in the world, or a wave of violence against elites which results in such an arrangement. I am tempted to step back and simply say, “It will be decided when attorneys lose their jobs en masse.” Which is what I think will happen. Excellent point. AI is different — it’s not just a tool, it’s becoming the labor itself. That said, I’m still very optimistic. Every time technology has replaced old forms of labor, it has unlocked far more valuable work for humans. In 20 years, I believe we’ll see an explosion of new industries and opportunities we can’t even imagine yet.

I’m not a doomer an AI at all. I think the nature of work, particularly entry level jobs will change. Ai will make business more complicated and competitive. Not less. Which means more layers where humans have to make decisions before the next process can happen And there will be millions, if not more, local models. We will we modify and train them for our lives and the businesses we create. Just leveraging the foundational models for things we don’t have access to. Maybe the new gig economy will be the models that represent our lives and the knowledge and experiences each one of us train those models on, and we get hired by companies for access to those models ? Thoughts ?

I’d gladly eat ramen and peanut butter everyday if I actually thought that it would significantly improve my family’s position financially. It won’t though, don’t get me wrong I keep a budget, we save for the future, but right now it’s not looking so hot. Between rent, car/health insurance and my utilities it’s getting increasingly hard to squirrel anything away. My wife is due with our first in the fall and when I lose her income entirely I’m not really sure what we’re going to do. We live in a one bed one bath apartment which we’re about to outgrow and renting a house is going to kill any shot we have at saving for a down payment.
