Notice to celebrities (etc): Don't use your platform to disparage maths. It might get you some cheap clicks and shares, but it's neither big nor clever & it makes every maths teacher's job more difficult whilst contributing to an already toxic national attitude to the subject.

*Question to Teachers* Sat here marking papers for the end of year, when a thought came up. Do you mark papers question by question or paper by paper?

My Year 11s are preparing this week for their Non-Calculator mock examination. So I put together a little revision reminder sheet. If you want to be added to the mailing list, please retweet and DM a request. Working through the backlog of requests atm.

OK, so the Y6/7 transition packs were soooooo popular, that I was thinking of asking the unbelievable content design team @SparxMaths to create a booklet/course to support for y11/12 transition (i.e. getting ready for AS). If a good idea, RT this to sigal "yes please I want one"

@JohnRubinstein1 @TLMaths it can be - if they solve using the classwiz and use solutions backwards to factorise they often write this type of answer.......

@TLMaths I think B is correct and should get full marks. But it is inelegant and best avoided. In practice, this isn’t an issue in an A level paper.

Question for GCSE and A-Level Maths teachers. A is correct. Is B also correct? Is the question ambiguous? Should it say "Fully factorise..."? Would this make a difference?

@MissPorter77 @tm_maths I think the main logic is to do all printing of handouts in one go in a logical format rather than teachers printing worksheets and giving these out on a lesson by lesson basis

Update, all teacher/student examples will be set out like this (rather than next to each other). This allows for more space for working and gives roughly the same amount of space as a GCSE exam would. Just my opinion, I prefer this.

@tm_maths @ian_pethick out of interest with using booklets how do you deal with needing extra examples-different examples or responding to needs in the lesson where you need to change your plan-do booklets not restrict this hugely & leave no scope for teacher reaction to the there and then?

we currently give our students the A-level person active learn end of unit tests. a few students have got lower than 50% on these, so want them to redo them, does anyone have ones prepared, either same numbers different Qs or different Qs? @Whitehughes @robotmaths
