It all started with 8⃣ UN Volunteers.
They were sent to support a regional government 🇪🇹 back in 2004 and ended up helping build one of the country’s top universities.
Among them was @amssalu_taye, #OnceAUNVolunteer and now Deputy Resident Representative at @UNDPLesotho.

@FAODG Forests and water are deeply interconnected and essential for life, yet access remains unequal. Sustainable and equitable management is key to resilient food systems and a better future. 🌍🌱💧 #ForestDay#WorldWaterDay#4Betters#Sustainability
Forests need water. Water needs forests. And we depend on both! But access to forests and water is not equal. Acting now to manage forests and water sustainably and equitably is key to resilient agrifood systems and a better future for all. #ForestDay#WorldWaterDay#4Betters

« En 2025, grâce aux efforts conjoints de nos partenaires et des autorités nationales, 944 femmes et jeunes issus de zones à défis sécuritaires ont pu obtenir des documents d’état civil. Ce résultat est essentiel, car il leur ouvre l’accès à l’éducation, aux services de santé et à l’exercice de leurs droits fondamentaux. C’est une étape importante vers une société plus inclusive où chaque personne peut pleinement participer au développement ».

May peace, dialogue, and compassion guide us, especially in difficult times.

Such a pleasure to see UN Messenger of Peace @Malala again last week.
During these troubled times, I’m especially grateful for her tireless advocacy for women and girls around the world — including in Afghanistan, where girls are banned from secondary school and women and girls have been systematically erased from public life.
At a moment of growing setbacks in gender equality, her voice and determination are needed more than ever.
