For all of you loving $BCE.to for its dividend (or worrying about it) ... why not just own the preferred shares? They yield from 7%-10% and the dividend reliability should not be in question.

GlobeMail story about ETF CEO taking money directly out of investors' funds. Now says she "intends" to repay. These stories of greed, (alleged) unethical behaviour and fall from grace will never get old for me. theglobeandmail.com/business/artic…

, yield on cost is an example of endowment bias. Hearing about others' YoC is annoying as hell. (So, @CDInewsletter just there clickbaiting/aura farming.) Yet, I feel all fuzzy about my own stocks that have high YoC. Does it help investing performance? I guess YMMV.
Canadian Dividend Investing@CDInewsletter

Yields on cost for stocks I bought years ago: $IMO.to (bought in 2018) - 10.7% $ALA.to (2018) - 9.7% $GWO.to (2018, 2020) - 9.2% $MFC.to (2018, 2020) - 8.6% $CPX.to (2018-23) - 7.9% Those should get better over time, too. Used to think YoC was dumb. Now I see it in action.

@evantindell As an IP lawyer, I can say that Crocs is a poster child for well-planned IP protection. They are certainly not mincing words in their IP statement: "robust", "DO NOT COPY", "we aggressively prosecute". Look on Linkedin, their IP team is huge. crocs.com/company/intell…

The weirdest moat in the world: $CROX product looks so dumb that you would never buy a knockoff. You already look kind of stupid -- you can't also look cheap.

True North is a small cap office REIT that trades at an extremely low valuation (4.1x FFO, 41% disc to NAV), but is struggling with vacancies and high debt. CIBC reduces their target: $TNT.UN

$mi.un Minto Apartments REIT going private at $18/unit. Deal closing h2 2026. Now trading back in the $17.40s. Holding to deal close gets you the 60 cent spread + 20-30 cents of distributions. Works out to a 9-10% annualized yield. If you like collecting nickels and dimes.

@tsxman By my own calculations, if valuing their non Toronto spaces at $50/sqft, and their TO spaces at the below $/sqft, $d.un is worth: TO $450/sqft => $D.un=$15.50/unit $500/sqft => $23.22/unit $550/sqft => $30.98/unit $600/sqft => $38.74/unit

$D.UN $DRM.TO announced the sale of a modest Toronto downtown office last night for $541 psf / $38.5 million - a relatively high price. One of their lower quality non core buildings with low occupancy and redevelopment potential. Overall portfolio implied trades below $300 psf.

@KonekoResearch TD update for $D.UN. Current pf implied valued at around $290 psf. $MRC.TO just sold a large 70s era Ottawa office for $450 psf. 85% of Dream's property $ is in d/t Toronto (the best market). The next couple years have almost no new supply & plenty of return to office mandates.

$mty.to undergoing strategic review while trading at 7.5x EPS/FCF on flat sales and decreasing capex. $FFH.to could buy it at 40% premium at 10.5x + synergy with Recipe + kick up the leverage to get to 15% ROE. As a holder of both cos, I would be OK with that.
Darren Jones@DarrenJMoots

@absolut_brian @NewcomerInvest Ok, that is a very good point! I did not realize $FFH.TO was in the business as the possibly acquirer (not my core area). I bought a little $MTY.TO yesterday and will now continue!
