The judge acknowledged his record was "atrocious." She released him anyway. The State Attorney's own office said publicly: "Our office felt that the release of the defendant was not appropriate, and he presents a danger to our community. We argued this point to the Judge... Ultimately the Judge, in her authority, made the decision." — State Attorney Monique Worrell Orange County Sheriff John Mina said: "This is atrocious. He should have never been released." Even the people whose job it is to keep criminals off the streets were overruled — and there was nothing they could do. Now here's the part that should make you angry: Florida's Citizens' Right to Know Act (FSS 907.043) requires pretrial release programs to publicly disclose defendant names, charges, and case numbers. The court's own public portal only shows who is currently assigned to the case. Not who let them go. There is no public record connecting a pretrial release decision to the judge who made it.
