You are confusing "convenience" with "experience." Yes, streaming is easier. But 45 minutes of doomscrolling Netflix only to fall asleep during the opening credits is not "better." The trip to Blockbuster was the event. You committed to the movie. You had skin in the game. We traded a Friday night ritual for an algorithm.

I hired a local pro to handle the mounting. He quoted $250, I gave him $300. He showed up fast, brought a second guy, and did a flawless job. A lot of people in the replies completely missed the point. This was never about the physical act of hanging a TV on a wall. It was about paying for a service that a massive retailer simply refused to fulfill. @BestBuy took the money and walked away from the job. They will never see another dime from me.

I bought an 85" Sony Bravia from @BestBuy on March 1st. Delivery took 12 days. Now mounting has been delayed another week and just got cancelled again via email. I've been lied to and given the runaround by at least 5 different employees. A @BestBuySupport agent on X even told me to wait until he gets back from vacation to 'fix' it. I spoke with someone from 'corporate' this morning who told me she has to investigate and will possibly get back to me tomorrow. @BestBuy doesn't seem to care and refuses to actually mount the TV. @BestBuySupport help? This is unacceptable for a big purchase. Here's a picture of the TV in the box sitting in my living room.

I thought 250 was high but I looked into it a bit and 250 was about average. I had another company tell me 400. That's crazy high. But yeah, I thought the $50 tip was well warranted. The guy came out last minute, grabbed his partner, and got the TV mounted asap. So well worth the 300 bucks I paid.

@NostalgiaPro No....got me... Houston. ....but I do think you were overcharged. Great tip you left tho!! And if you're happy that's all that matters! I do this often where it's hot and ofc I have tools and time to fix car but I sub it out sometimes the work to a guy I know, feeds his family

@NecroTwoshoes I don't think it really matters where you buy the TV. For my future self, I need to seek out independent installers and avoid big box stores. I do need to go to Costco soon and buy more Celsius. Getting low.

@6blueeyesx1 I paid a local pro to safely lift an 85-inch panel onto the wall because I am recovering from a torn back muscle. Organizing the cables is the next step once everything else is in place. You are judging an unfinished room just to be mad on the internet.

@Shubba_duba_do I just moved in and the TV was mounted minutes before I took this picture. Proper cable management happens after the rest of the room is actually set up. Worrying about another man's temporary setup is a weird way to spend your afternoon.

@Darkfiber_G I tore the psoas muscle in my back moving a 328 lb gun safe by myself. Safely locking a fragile 85-inch screen onto a wall bracket requires a two-man crew. Projecting your own insecurities onto strangers because they understand basic physics is embarrassing.
