Totally refutes the idea of St. Augustine as a saint for "just piety"
Peter@OrthroAug
The universal tradition of the Orthodox Church accepts Blessed Augustine as a Holy Father, albeit with a flaw very much like St. Gregory of Nyssa in the East. Fr. Neketas’ self-assured, authoritative proclamation is un-Orthodox and positively childish - Fr. Seprahim Rose, Lt 189

MARCH 26, 2026 — The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) is considering the glorification of Fr. Seraphim Rose of Platina, potentially making him its first U.S.-born saint, Abp. Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, who heads the church’s canonization commission, told the Union of Orthodox Journalists of America.
“We have discussed this possibility and created a special commission to study the issue, collect materials, and gather accounts of miracles associated with him,” His Eminence said. “If approved, he would become the first U.S.-born saint canonized by ROCOR.”

He is simply being dishonest. Multiple human rights organizations have condemned the Ukrainian government's ongoing persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church:
United Nations Human Rights Experts: In October 2025, several UN independent experts (including Special Rapporteurs on freedom of religion and minority issues) warned of systematic persecution of the UOC. They specifically criticized the revocation of the UOC Primate's citizenship and the judicial efforts to dissolve the church based on its alleged links to the Moscow Patriarchate.
Human Rights Watch (HRW): In its World Report 2025, HRW identified a new Ukrainian law (Law No. 8371) as "overly broad" and warned it could lead to a total ban of the UOC, violating international religious freedom standards.
Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR): The OHCHR has documented incidents where groups forcefully entered UOC churches, often justified by local authorities. They have noted that some bans on the UOC have not been sufficiently explained as "necessary and proportional" for public safety.
Human Rights Without Frontiers (HRWF): This organization has extensively reported on the legal actions against UOC clergy, characterizing them as a form of stigmatization and a potential violation of individual religious rights.
On top of those, this has also been condemned by the Anglican Church, and by Pope Francis.
