@Yossarian_Lives The solid cross-party consensus has existed for good reason. Antisemitism is an absolute cancer (the most reliable indicator of political crankery), and support for Israel is just the support for a nation state to defend itself from attack.

This is another vector of absolute bollocks in this debate. The discourse about Israeli/Jewish influence is a very pertinent American debate, but it's ported over into British politics via Youtuber pundits who wouldn't have any audience to speak of if they didn't in some way calibrate their output to American audiences. The British right is just as guilty as the woke left when it comes to importing American bollocks. In terms of steering British foreign policy, trade policy and immigration policy, the major lobbying that should concern us is Pakistan and India. Israel, meanwhile, doesn't see the UK as especially important to any of its domestic or foreign policy interests - not least because we have never been more irrelevant on the world stage. Jewish lobbying in Britain largely pertains to the safety of Jews in Britain - and calling out what they see as antisemitism and very real threats to their safety. Maybe they are trigger happy in calling things antisemitic, but for fairly obvious reasons, they will have a better pattern recognition than most. What starts with the odd passive antisemitic trope ends up with Jews being excluded from public life and threatened because they are Jewish. Insofar as the Jewish "lobby" has had any real influence over the outcome of domestic politics, it was their contributory role in keeping Jeremy Corbyn out of office, which on balance makes them an asset. Islamists have had a far greater effect on UK foreign policy pertaining to Israel than the entire cadre of Jewish journalists and lobby groups. Basically, the new fashion of "antizionism" on the British right is contrarian zoomer bollocks - a juvenile shock jock rebellion against the post-war Boomer pro-Israel consensus. Just as stroppy teenagers like to push boundaries, the zoomers are doing the same politically. Precisely what it is they think it gets them, I really can't tell - not least because it puts their politics in the same ballpark as the far left and Pakistani islamists. My best conclusion is that they are simply retards. A generation of militarily illiterate boys raised by stupid liberal women.
