when we started building goddo, the easy thing would’ve been to just pick an existing ai gadget from china, slap our logo on it and ship.
it’s fast, it works, and that’s what most startups do when they want to move quick.
but I didn’t want that.
we decided to design our own pcb from scratch because we cared about getting every detail right.
it meant a bunch of late nights, 15hr days, and silly mistakes… like missing a resistor that stopped the board from powering up. but that’s how you learn.
doing it this way gave us full control over how goddo listens, responds, and manages power.
when you’re building something a child carries around and talks to, you can’t just rely on someone else’s firmware and hope it behaves right. you need to know exactly what’s happening at every level.
we learned a lot about power management, startup logic, and audio performance by going hands on with the hardware.
we’re now on version 2 of the board. it’s smaller and better designed with a tiny screen that shows battery level, wifi status and whether it’s recording or playing back, since the leds weren’t clear enough before.
it was the long road but it is what made goddo ours.
