Boy accidentally tried to buy a “possum” at a toy store, until the cashier realized it was breathing. A little boy was wandering the aisle he loved most when he spotted what looked like the perfect toy: a possum. He scooped it up like it was the best find of the day and carried it proudly to the checkout, ready to pay. The cashier reached for the barcode and froze. There wasn’t one, because it wasn’t a toy. The “possum” shifted slightly, and she noticed the tiny chest moving as it breathed. She kept the boy calm, stepped back, and called local officials. A short time later, wildlife responders arrived, gently secured the possum, and released it back outside where it belonged. The boy didn’t leave upset, though. He left amazed, and with a brand‑new favorite animal.
