Excited to share that research from Dr. Mayanglambam Dhruba Singh’s lab has been accepted in Cell Death Discovery 🎉 🧬 Our latest work on Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 shows that dMyc is downregulated in a Drosophila model, and its restoration improves muscle function, extends lifespan & alleviates disease phenotypes by reducing excessive autophagy & apoptosis. 🔗 nature.com/articles/s4142… Early version now available online. Congrats to the team 👏 @DrJitendraSingh @DBTIndia @BricDbt @rajesh_gokhale @DrSagarSengupta @Dhruba2016 #Research #Science #DM1 #Drosophila

Son of a BJP MLA from Pichhore (Madhya Pradesh) ran over five people and arrogantly blamed the victims. He has a similar past case too. His father also has a glorious criminal record. Look at his Thar: no number plate, sirens, modified lights, and his father’s photo and designation in bold. He must have been roaming like this, and no policeman would have dared act on these multiple RTO offences. Given his confidence and our faith in the system, this time too he’ll face no action.

His name is Ashok Khemka. IIT Kharagpur. PhD from TIFR. IAS 1991 batch. In 2012 he was Director General of Land Consolidation in Haryana. He found a land deal where Robert Vadra’s company bought 3.5 acres in Gurugram for Rs 7.5 crore and sold it to DLF for Rs 58 crore within weeks. 700 percent profit. No physical development. Fraudulent mutation approvals. He cancelled the deal and declared it illegal. Within 10 days he was transferred. That was transfer number 1 of 57. 57 transfers in 34 years. One every 6 months. Every time he exposed corruption in a new department he was moved to a less significant one. Archives. Archaeology. Printing and Stationery. His batchmates became Secretaries to the Government of India. He was sent to manage old records. He posted on X after his 53rd transfer. The reward for honesty is humiliation. He retired in April 2025 as Additional Chief Secretary. He never became Chief Secretary. No medal. No recognition. Just 57 punishments for doing his job.

I demanded in Parliament that PATERNITY LEAVE should be a legal right in India. When a child is born, both parents are congratulated. But caregiving responsibility falls on one. The mother. A father should not have to choose between caregiving for his newborn and keeping his job. And a mother should not have to go through childbirth & recovery without her husband’s support Right after childbirth the woman, needs her husband’s presence the most. The husband’s caregiving responsibility towards his wife is equally important. I raised this issue in Parliament because caregiving is a shared responsibility. Our laws must reflect that.

🧠 Turning off opioid signals may unlock brain regeneration. New study from Dr. Soumya Iyengar’s lab reveals how blocking opioid receptors rewires gene expression to boost neurogenesis in adult zebra finches. 📄 Annals of Neurosciences (2026) DOI: 10.1177/09727531251410391 🔬 Key highlights: 1. Blocking opioid receptors (with naloxone) increases the production of new brain cells in adult songbirds. 2. This occurs through specific gene changes (~ 26 genes), mainly linked to neuron growth, movement, and brain plasticity. 3. The levels of a key regulator, tgu-miR-124-201 (the precursor of miR-124-3p), is significantly increased, which helps immature cells in the ventricular-subventricular zone (V-SVZ) develop into neurons. 4. These results demonstrate that blocking opioid receptors may lead to an increase in neurogenesis in adult songbirds, accompanied by an increase in miR-124-3p. 5. The effect is region-specific, and is stronger near the song-related striatal region Area X. 6. Overall, the opioid system appears to normally limit neurogenesis and blocking it can promote neurogenesis via gene and microRNA pathways. @DrJitendraSingh @DBTIndia @BricDbt @rajesh_gokhale @DrSagarSengupta #Neuroscience #Neurogenesis #BrainResearch #OpenAccess

@DBT_NBRC @DhananjayHuilg1 @PNASNews @GhoshRoyLab This is just one of the several good papers being published from Dr GhoshRoy lab from NBRC which is gathering the due attention of the neuroscience community. This work has also been featured by NATUREIndia. Thanks @DBTIndia for supporting India’s only neuroscience institute.

New Manuscript from NBRC @PNASNews A new study from the @GhoshRoyLab in PNAS shows that damaged dendrites are not passive victims of injury: they can activate a regenerative branching response, a key event in effective nerve regeneration. Using a rapid injury model in C. elegans, Singh et al. identify a conserved FGFR signalling pathway as a key driver of this repair process. The novel finding shifts attention beyond axons and reveals a distinct molecular route for dendrite regeneration, opening new possibilities for understanding and improving neural repair. This work has far reaching implications in improving nerve repair in trauma cases. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn… 🔗 nature.com/articles/d4415… @NatureInd @DrJitendraSingh @DBTIndia @BricDbt @rajesh_gokhale @DrSagarSengupta @GhoshRoyLab @singhpallavi96 #Neuroscience #BrainResearch #Science #NeuroRepair #NatureIndia

Hello @dpradhanbjp ji, Please bring some regulation to school textbook pricing as well. What exactly is being taught that a single book costs ₹1000? This is not education anymore, it’s becoming a financial burden on families.
