Thursday gives me boxing day 2013 vibes for snow for the south, similar scenario where rain at first made for difficult wet ground, but very heavy snow was able to overcome it on the back edge Very marginal but not impossible, midlands and north England most likely to see disruptive, settling snow

@alex_wx_ How can this be, Alex? Those radar images, while clearly accurate, do not tell the whole story. Here in Leicestershire, there's not been a fluke of snow fallen. Snow certainly isn't hanging about over much of the East Mids. Most of the snow has shifted far from this area.

Intrigued that precip coverage has increased across Eastern England over the last hour or so, completely inland. This suggest the vertical motion is at least not completely convectively driven by instability over the sea. Bodes well for maintenance of snow band overnight.
