Maybe we all need to take a stroll down memory lane and remember that day when we stopped smiling for pictures. When it was no longer exciting, but terrifying. Not the day we lost our nerve, but the day we actually found it. The day that the hypothetical became reality. The day we took a punch to the face and had to get up off the mat for more rounds. Remember that day and remember those who’ve lived it themselves in the past few weeks, most of them not combat MOSs. All of them heroes. I am so damn proud of the men and women who serve this country. They are not without fear. They are brave with it.
