GLM-5.2 on KingBench (3). Thoughts: The model has superb taste. It is greater at UX than UI. The code is always very clean. It is great at One-shot wonders. I asked it to fine-tune a whole local model and it did it in 30mins! This is just a great model to use all-round. 1/n

Just like I had predicted RSI is now part of the AGI marketing narrative.
For example an interesting new paper out of Google Deepmind highlights this. Unfortunately they are trying to turn “superintelligence” into a legit way of seeing the future.
The report maps out the technical landscape, continuum of intelligence, and societal implications of transitioning from human-level Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to Artificial Superintelligence (ASI).
Where:
AGI (Informal Characterization): A system capable of matching human-level cognitive performance across a broad spectrum of contextually relevant tasks.
ASI (Informal Characterization): A system that is significantly more intelligent, capable, and cognitively advanced than any individual human or human collective across nearly all domains that is capable of self-improving at a rapid rate.
The paper outlines four pathways through which AGI might evolve into ASI:

@haider1 @DKokotajlo Does Trump sound like someone who's tightening his grip? He barely can remember Anthropic's name on most days. He just knows that's the company he needs to suppress and bully.
But he's so personally unpopular, his harshness is literally an endorsement.

Part of sales is eliciting publicity and sentiment that might lead to more sales. It doesn't matter if you are right or wrong, so long as you stay true to your talking points.
Mythos almost days has made me forget OpenAI even exists. The truth is there's a whole wave of new AI startups coming to eat their lunch.

I am perpetually confused by Dario.
He seems neither skilled as a Machiavellian actor (knowing when to play ball) nor committed to his ideals (pausing for safety reasons when the government asks; hell, turn it into an ad).
He just constantly pisses people off lol.

The following seems undisputed: - Senior USG officials called Dario Amodei, asked him to roll back Fable 5. - Amodei responded only that he wants more time and more information. Presumably, he was asked again in no uncertain terms to pull the model. Presumably, he said "no". - Bessent then "told Amodei directly that he was making a 'bad decision'". - At this point, the call that seems to have been intended as a difficult conversation between partners clearly turned adversarial. Amodei still didn't change his mind and still didn't agree to pull Fable 5. The key takeaway is that whatever trust the USG still had in Anthropic generally and Amodei specifically before this incident should have now completely evaporated. No matter the circumstances, you cannot, as a government official, tolerate a company that flatly tells you "no" after you informally contact it with a national security concern. I remain hopeful that this situation can still be deescalated, but fear that this might be a pivotal moment for Anthropic.

The admin is going to keep leaking all sorts of details that make it sound, to a casual reader, like this was a reasonable decision.
But there has been zero indicating that domain experts at CAISI or NSA were involved - all reporting points to "senior White House officials."
