Then why did we lose at least $32 billion to pandemic unemployment fraud? Oh yeah, because the EDD: * Dumped its anti-fraud program (Pondera) in 2016 and never replaced it * Never implemented a system to cross-match incarceration data after being warned in 2015 to do so * Failed to correct its practice of mailing documents w/people's full SSN's after state auditor report in 2018 Just for a start. And, CBS News found that, since 2015, CA lawmakers failed to enact 3 out of every 4 anti-fraud recommendations from the state auditor that required legislative action.
