The humane treatment of monkeys is not just the responsible thing to do, it is also the right thing to do. That is why I am proud to join @RepGregSteube introducing legislation that prevents the importation of monkeys for the purposes of experimentation and research. There are alternative, scientifically backed technologies that enable safer, more effective, and more accurate testing to support public health. @PETA

Taiwan is an example for the world of how a nation can stand up for its people’s beliefs despite having a dangerous and powerful neighbor that represses religious freedom. I am proud to introduce a resolution today commending the Vatican for maintaining strong diplomatic ties with Taiwan since 1942 as its only European ally.

The Administration’s decision is a positive step toward commonsense cannabis policy reform, but work remains. Although it eases restrictions on medical research and alleviates certain tax burdens on state-legal cannabis businesses, classifying marijuana as a Schedule III substance still enables the unfair and unequal incarceration of recreational users and limits businesses’ access to banking services. We must continue to address the systemic inequity associated with the scheduling of cannabis as a dangerous drug.

Thank goodness. @HouseGOP failed today, on Earth Day, to roll back critical Endangered Species safeguards. I am working hard to protect our environment and these special creatures. That’s why I scored a 100% on my @Defenders scorecard.

Yesterday on CNBC, @POTUS called rising oil prices “peanuts.” He has no idea the reality that the American people are facing with higher gas and energy costs because of his reckless policies.
