EU: "We have a special alliance with the USA!"
USA: "Sweet. Hop on. We're gonna go make mincemeat out of terrorists."
EU: "Omg racists don't you know how to negotiate?"
USA: "K fine, bombing them without you."
EU: "Oh, no, the terrorists won't sell us oil anymore! Damn you, USA!"
USA: "We have plenty lol. You should buy some from us."
EU: "No, you're racist and sell things in dollars with your dollar imperialism."
USA: "Ok... well you can go secure your own oil sales."
EU: "No, you have to secure my oil for me or else we're your vassals."
USA: "Not really seeing the point in continuing this relationship."
EU: "YOU HATE WESTERN CIVILIZATION!"

Your answer, you were attacked, NATO partners responded as per treaty .
English

It’s bizarre to me that old Europe thinks it can lecture and hector us into continuing the old style of alliance, where we carry the weight and they bitch at us into perpetuity.
I’ve served in NATO on several occasions. So have millions of other Americans. If you think you can talk us into going back to how it was after what our alleged allies just did, you are mistaken.
Gerard Baker@gerardtbaker
Startling level of ignorance about America's most important democratic partners from... checks notes...someone who runs something called the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.

@Bluefloof2014 @RobinNunya14 Cried or complained.
You now want to go to war without us, when it goes wrong you squeal and cry you need our help to fix your shit whilst doing a runner.
Like that bloke that starts a bar fight and then ghosts it off home.
Not our problem your POTUS is an incompetent moron.
English

@RodPin5 @RobinNunya14 Boy, howdy, I really struck a nerve. Look it's not my fault you europoors can't decide if you want Uncle Sam's help or not. One minute yall cry and complain cause we decapitate the world's largest terrorist organization. Then you cry cause we want to be done with you. Pick one.

You asked how the USA benefits from NATO?
🚨 But first, this is important to know:
The U.S. taxpayers pay the LION’S SHAREA & provides the heavy capabilities that keep NATO strong.
These allies take the protection, keep their own spending lower to fund other priorities & then refuse even basic cooperation when the U.S. asks for help - for a mission to stop the world’s top terrorism sponsor from going nuclear & their continued terrorist activities, something that protects EVERYONE.
👉🏻Official U.S. DOW state that NATO is supposed to give the United States but based on recent events one could argue - NATO did not provide all:
▫️Collective defense under Article 5: An attack on one is an attack on all. NATO invoked Article 5 for the first time ever right after the 9/11 attacks on the United States. Allies then joined U.S.-led operations in Afghanistan.
▫️Shared capabilities and combat power: Allies bring extra forces, bases in some countries, intelligence sharing & interoperability that add to U.S. strength. The U.S. gets “credible combat power that NATO can mount” from the combined contributions of all members.
▫️Strategic stability in Europe: NATO enlargement & the alliance itself have helped spread stability and democratic values across Europe, reducing the need for the U.S. to handle European security alone.
🚨IMPORTANT: But here’s exactly how that “collective defense” benefit looks in real time right now.
When the U.S. was running operations against Iran in 2025-2026 and needed simple practical help - like overflights for supply planes or temporary use of bases - key NATO allies said no.
They refused the exact kind of support the U.S. gives them every day through the alliance.
👀That turns the mutual-defense promise into a one way street.👀
These NATO countries are happy to cash the checks on America’s dime.
FACT: The U.S. pays roughly 60% of all NATO defence spending across the whole alliance & the biggest single share of the common budgets that keep the whole thing running.
🚨The USA, provides the nuclear umbrella, the high end intelligence, the strategic airlift & the heavy lifting that makes Article 5 actually work.
These NATO nations keep their own defence budgets low so they can spend more on welfare & other stuff at home.
Then, when the U.S. asks for basic transit or base access during a real crisis, they slam the door and lecture us about “wars of choice.”
These nations reap the rewards & give nothing back when it matters.
🚨That’s not partnership - that’s freeloading.🚨
Right or wrong and based on the lack of support: I’m of the opinion & agree with @POTUS, you need oil & gas - go get it yourself!

I am going to be brutally honest here: Britain needs to SHUT THE F*CK UP about global affairs.
Almost all major social media platforms that today shape public opinion, such as X, were created in America and/or by ambitious, creative and competitive Americans.
In the meantime, Britain gave the world OnlyFans.
"Spread your legs and make some money" is our contribution to the global conversation that shapes events across the world.
Britain is the saddest story in modern history.
Britons are creative, hard-working and decent, but we're held back by a bunch of the most passive, weak, disgusting, good-for-nothing fools!
On May 7th, we will destroy the inept, weak imbeciles.

Trump is right to reconsider NATO. Under Article II, the president has full constitutional authority to withdraw from any treaty without Senate approval. The 2023 Kaine-Rubio provision can't override the Constitution. It's his call to make.

@mitchellvii It isn’t, you lie 🤔
Just like Iran has no nukes or Saddam WMD’s.
Where is the tracking proof of the missiles fired at any European nation or D.Garcia

@guypbenson Trump, not the US to blame.
Maybe tariffs, threats of Greenland invasion, Cheap embarrassment low blows, not sending the memo of the mission, going alone with Israel have taken their toll.
The other way around you’d get it 😉
NATO = Defence =9/11
Not NATO = Not 9/11 = Iran
English

I mean, I also support NATO, but watching our supposed allies close their airspace to us as we destroy the “death to America” regime’s nuclear & missile threats (having just learned the regime has been lying about missiles that can reach Europe) is going to make a lot of Americans question the alliance. That’s on France/Spain/Italy, not Trump.
Andrew Desiderio@AndrewDesiderio
Sens. Shaheen (D) & Tillis (R) pan Trump’s NATO threats: “Any President that contemplates attempting to withdraw from NATO is not only fulfilling Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping’s greatest dreams but would be undermining America’s own national security interests.”

Europe has just lost a lot of NATO support in Washington.
I have long suspected that at the end of the day, Trump will not merely dismantle existing legacy structures. He will likely create new ones built around American power.
The world is changing rapidly.

NATO: It is clear that it is time to shutter America's 200+ installations in Europe and to bring our 100,000 troops home. We don't have to leave NATO but we don't need to spend $20 billion a year to defend Europe.
