@crosstown_line Planes more vulnerable to weather- the last three times I have flown, flight cancelled due to weather and I have had to find emergency accommodation - stranding my kids at home by themself, having been to cancel a workshop for 80 people another time

A lot folks forget that a 2 hour flight is actually 5-6 hours - an hour to get to the airport, 90+ minutes of TSA and boarding, 2 hours in flight, another hour dealing with ground transportation to the destination. A 6 hour high speed train is a competitive replacement.

@the_transit_guy Our new metro is fast, really convenient and beautifully designed, some great public art to liven it up. For my extended family it has sped up commute times to work and meant teens can make their way around without lifts.

Trump signed an executive order today withdrawing America from the World Health Organisation (WHO). Two immediate implications: WHO will lose ~20% of its total funding & the world capacity to monitor & manage the next pandemic is now significantly impaired.

@GuardianAus Wait till you get old and you need a knee replacement or a hip done if you have private insurance you can get it done straight away under Medicare. You can be in agony for a year or more waiting to get it done.

@politicalmath On the other hand there’s a great study of lawyers looking at productivity. Single men were the least productive, married men and single women were equally productive, and married women with children were the most productive- we are awesome at multitasking.
