@MrsLD10 There’s some sort of hack where you can plug your phone into the cars USB port, access a menu and diagnose the problem. Further than that, I know nothing.

‘The President’s preference is always peace’. What a blatant lie. And anyone who talks about ‘unleashing hell’ is a psychopath. All decent people of the world stand against Donald Trump.
Brian Allen@allenanalysis

White House statement tonight: “President Trump does not bluff. He is prepared to unleash hell. Iran should not miscalculate again.” “Iran has been defeated militarily. Any violence beyond this point will be because Iran refused to understand they have already been defeated.”

If you love film and tv nostalgia and other articles about how we used to live, do consider taking out a subscription to Intermission magazine (it’s great value). The current edition includes pieces by me on Britain’s first Oscar winning actor George Arliss, and the late, great comedian and man of many faces Stanley Baxter. You can try 3 issues for just £15 (incl P & P). 👇

@DrNeilStone @joerogan Joe Rogan is a pretty intelligent guy. He tends to play along with his guests to encourage them to open up. He does push back, but just because he doesn’t push back all in the way you or I might doesn’t mean he’s thick. Alienating people doesn’t make for good ratings.

@girdley Not as bad as the McCoy and Spok relationship, where McCoy was a decidedly racist bigot. And whenever Spok took command, McCoy would invariably give him a real hard time.

I know this is Star Trek, but it's a great case study in leadership. Every boss eventually needs to have this talk with a senior employee at some point in their career. Sometimes you have to remind people who is in charge.

🇾🇪 The Legendary Ryan Giggs 🇾🇪 From his debut as a teenager to his final match, he dedicated an astounding 27 years to United as a ‘one club man’. His stats tell the story of his incredible career. 963 appearances (a club record), 168 goals, and 268 assists. Giggsy’s trophy cabinet is equally impressive, with 35 pieces of silverware, making him one of the most decorated players in English football history. Despite these extraordinary achievements, Giggs remains conspicuously absent from the Premier League Hall of Fame. Regardless, he undoubtedly remains the greatest player in the Premier League era 🔴⚪️⚫️ #RyanGiggs #mufc #ManchesterUnited

@ExploreCosmos_ How does the andromeda galaxy moving towards the Milky Way fit in to the expansion model?

When we talk about the expansion of the universe, it’s easy to imagine everything moving apart uniformly, as if all galaxies were simply drifting away from each other with nothing interrupting that motion. But then something unexpected appears in the data: our own galaxy, along with many others nearby, is not just moving with the expansion. It’s also being pulled in a specific direction. Toward something we cannot even see clearly. This region is known as the Great Attractor, a massive concentration of matter located in the direction of the Centaurus region, dominated by structures like the massive Norma cluster, deep within what we now call the Laniakea supercluster. For decades, astronomers noticed that galaxies in our local region were not following the expansion perfectly. They had what we call peculiar velocities, motions that deviate from the smooth expansion of space. When those motions were mapped, they all seemed to point roughly toward the same hidden region. At first glance, this feels like a contradiction. If the universe is expanding, how can anything be pulling us inward? The answer comes down to scale. The expansion of the universe dominates on very large distances, between galaxy clusters separated by vast cosmic voids. On those scales, gravity is too weak to hold structures together, so space stretches and galaxies recede from each other. But on smaller scales, gravity can still win. Galaxies don’t expand internally. Solar systems don’t expand. Even clusters of galaxies can remain gravitationally bound. The Great Attractor is an example of this principle on a larger scale: a region dense enough that its gravity can locally overcome the general expansion and pull matter toward it. Ultimately, there’s no contradiction. Both things are happening at once. The universe expands overall, but within it, matter still clumps, attracts, and moves under gravity. You can think of it less as a uniform stretching and more as a dynamic landscape where expansion sets the background, and gravity sculpts the details. The real kicker, though, is that we can’t actually observe the Great Attractor directly in visible light. It lies hidden behind the dense plane of our own galaxy, in a region known as the Zone of Avoidance, where dust and stars block our view. But by using infrared observations, X-rays, and galaxy velocity measurements, astronomers have been able to reconstruct what’s there. What emerges is not a single object, but a vast gravitational region, multiple massive structures acting together as a kind of cosmic basin, pulling nearby galaxies inward. And even this isn’t the full picture. Zoom out further, and you find that this motion is part of a much larger flow of galaxies across hundreds of millions of light-years, all embedded within the structure of Laniakea. The Great Attractor is not a unique center of the universe. It’s just one node in a much larger cosmic web. If the universe is expanding, then why are we moving toward something? Because expansion is not the only actor in the story. It sets the stage, but gravity still shapes what happens locally. And it’s in that interplay, between the smooth stretching of space and the clumping of matter, where the universe starts to feel less like a simple system, and more like something alive with structure and motion.

@AlexBarnicoat_ Okay, 5000 US troops land and secure Kharg island. Then what? The whole idea brings no military tactical advantage. All it does is tie a bunch of troops up as a target on an isolated island twiddling their thumbs. Pointless idea. Sounds like a distraction.
