I am curious how you interpret their claims on the chip fab. During the announcement he says the facility will produce between "100 and 200 billion" of these chips per year. But in the same segment it is said that they will scale up to a million wafers per month (12m/y), albeit starting from 100,000/m How exactly does that claim work at all? He did specify for that monthly figure they are wafer starts, so they're not just talking about the number of crystals before they're sliced up, which would be an odd choice for a figure anyway if it was talking about that. You don't get a rounding error of...that magnitude. They're completely made up figures unless I have gravely misunderstood something

Had so much stuff to do IRL so haven't been paying a lot of attention but wow. This TERAFAB project is awesome. It will be incredibly difficult, and obviously, the "experts" will dismiss it as impossible. But by now we have so many examples to prove that whatever they say doesn't matter at all. SpaceX, Tesla and xAI are known to do "impossible" things

@SH83 @DJSnM The Martian was great, but The Martian was a decade ago. People don't spend money for the Big Screen any more. With everything getting more expensive except flat screen TVs and PC monitors, more people prefer streaming these days.

This is what the build out for a 300MW datacenter looks like. Multiply this visual by 1,000 then ask yourself, “Why do Elon, Sundar, Sam, Jensen, Schmidt and Bezos all agree and have come to the same conclusion that we need to repackage this compute and shoot it into space?” The answer is they all expect the real demand multiplier to be 1,000,000+ not 1,000. Arguments against Space Data Centers revolve around limited op ex savings, depreciation schedules, etc which are all perfectly reasonable when you only care about the next 100 data centers or the next 18 months of IRR. Meanwhile the titans of the upcoming Industrial Revolution have all seen the writing on the wall and realize we simple cannot meet the demand for intelligence building project by project on the ground. You cannot copy and paste this 1M times in the next 10 years. Not when you need buy in from 1M+ local governments, interconnect 1M+ power hungry buildings, and appease NIMBY orgs 1M+ times. They’ve concluded it actually makes more sense to package up compute into modular boxes, shoot a lot of them into space and beam the results back. Betting against data centers in space is simply a bet against AI demand scaling beyond 100 GWs per year within 10 years. It’s not about radiators, ITU approvals, capex v opex, Nuclear energy scale up, etc. You could be right making that bet, but be honest with yourself about what bet you are making.

@TailosiveTech Cable TV is not YouTube. Sold 100$ or in my case € was all the series asap and movies after like 6 months after box office for 100-120€. Nowadays I need YT Premiun, HBO,Paramount,Netflix, Amazon, random other streaming services for sports. Totals for me to 230€ each Month

Cable TV was $100 a month with 50% ads. YouTube is free with ads, but for $15 a month you can remove them. It’s not that bad.
