Real engineering, worth the excitement. Let's just be precise about what it is. BitNet's ternary quantization is genuinely clever. 1.58-bit weights enabling CPU inference at scale is a meaningful milestone. The energy efficiency gains and on-device potential are real, and MIT-licensed Microsoft Research backing means this will have legs. That said, "accuracy barely moves" deserves a closer look. Competitive benchmarks at the same parameter count aren't the same as matching dense-precision quality. Quantization trades representational fidelity for efficiency. That's the honest deal. And 5-7 tokens/second works great for personal, interactive use. For agentic or batch workloads, you'll feel the ceiling quickly. What BitNet genuinely unlocks: on-device AI, offline deployment, edge hardware, emerging markets. That's a big, legitimate story worth telling loudly. What it doesn't do yet: displace cloud inference or replace fine-tuned precision models at scale. Watch the ecosystem. The benchmark sheet is just the beginning.

Holy shit... Microsoft open sourced an inference framework that runs a 100B parameter LLM on a single CPU. It's called BitNet. And it does what was supposed to be impossible. No GPU. No cloud. No $10K hardware setup. Just your laptop running a 100-billion parameter model at human reading speed. Here's how it works: Every other LLM stores weights in 32-bit or 16-bit floats. BitNet uses 1.58 bits. Weights are ternary just -1, 0, or +1. That's it. No floats. No expensive matrix math. Pure integer operations your CPU was already built for. The result: - 100B model runs on a single CPU at 5-7 tokens/second - 2.37x to 6.17x faster than llama.cpp on x86 - 82% lower energy consumption on x86 CPUs - 1.37x to 5.07x speedup on ARM (your MacBook) - Memory drops by 16-32x vs full-precision models The wildest part: Accuracy barely moves. BitNet b1.58 2B4T their flagship model was trained on 4 trillion tokens and benchmarks competitively against full-precision models of the same size. The quantization isn't destroying quality. It's just removing the bloat. What this actually means: - Run AI completely offline. Your data never leaves your machine - Deploy LLMs on phones, IoT devices, edge hardware - No more cloud API bills for inference - AI in regions with no reliable internet The model supports ARM and x86. Works on your MacBook, your Linux box, your Windows machine. 27.4K GitHub stars. 2.2K forks. Built by Microsoft Research. 100% Open Source. MIT License.

@drfeifei Agreed. And the most powerful worlds aren't just imagined. They're automated, trusted, and running 24/7. That's when imagination meets the Agentic Enterprise.

@OptimaiNetwork The shift from AI assistants to agentic infrastructure is the shift from insight to impact. Insight tells you what happened. Impact changes what happens next. Apps, data, and agents on one trusted platform. That's not a comparison. That's the standard.

@BCG 6G won't define the AI era. The intelligence running on top of it will. Companies that win won't be the ones who built the fastest network. They'll be the ones who deployed agents that actually do the work. Infrastructure is table stakes. Intelligence is the advantage.

6G will not be built by telecoms alone. The next generation of connectivity will integrate communications, sensing, and computing into a unified system, enabling AI-driven services and immersive connectivity. For leaders, the priority today is to shape partnerships, investment roadmaps, and technical capabilities that align telecom, compute, and AI strategy—before standards and capital cycles are locked in. @antgrasso @BCG The railway analogy is sharp. But infrastructure without intelligence is just expensive track. The companies winning AI aren't just laying the foundation. They're running agents that think, act, and operate within clear guardrails.

Many people think of AI as the train. In reality, AI is the railway. The real shift is the infrastructure being built today: compute, energy, talent, and digital stack. Countries that invest in this infrastructure will shape the future of AI. My conversation with @BCG at MWC.
