@SintonCrane Depends. Most of it, yeah, but there's some real old stuff that I look at and think, wow, that actually has potential.

I'm going in. Being a pantser isn't easy, folks. Who else is writing or editing?

Writing thought: You know that feeling when you're about to start writing, you pull up the manuscript, and every part of you is like... "I don't want to"? Yeah... Punch that feeling in the face

How many of these wizards have you heard of, and can you recommend me more like them? Gandalf (Tolkien) Moiraine Damodred (Wheel of Time) Ged Sparrowhawk (Earthsea) Od (Od Magic) Kvothe (Kingkiller) Jessica Atreides (Dune, and I say she counts) Crystal (Wizard of the Grove)

@SarahESax When I first started writing I listened to metal. I don't think it would work for me now. I do listen to Watching From A Distance occasionally though :)

What music do you listen to when you write? I have a rotation of playlists but they're all getting pretty old.

What is the scariest book you’ve ever read? Like, actually creeped you out and haunted you for a minute

The way it took Funko Pops, of all things, to get me to say yes to the hard things God asks of me.

@JessicaGoeken The summer reading club was my favorite thing as a kid. Getting those reading lists stamped = accomplishment.

We signed up for the library’s summer reading program 3 days ago and the boys have already gone through 2 weeks worth of reading time 🤦‍♀️

I didn't really hate Captain Marvel, but I agree her character didn't change much.

@SmutTerry The Father Brown stories by G.K. Chesterton. Basically, what if Sherlock Holmes was a humble quirky priest with a reformed criminal for a best friend. I see you said Holmes is a bit old-timey for what you're looking for, but I still recommend it for the plot twists.

Doing some research for a story I want to write. Can anyone recommend some good detective short fiction (perhaps 20th century and later)?

There's a lot of engagement farming aimed at writers, asking questions about "your protagonist" or "your villain," etc. I'm on my 15th novel. Exactly which protagonist or villain would you like to hear about?
