Even though Rogue One (2016) is my favorite Star Wars film by a wide margin, the hallway scene is what truly elevates it.
In just a few minutes, Darth Vader stops feeling like a larger-than-life villain and becomes something far more terrifying.

I’ve defended the administration’s America 250 plans, because I trusted they really would be non partisan, really would bring us together. But I was wrong. And it sucks. I also apologize to the musical acts who dropped out who I criticized. They saw it.

The pearl clutching over a joke, made by a UFC heavyweight known for his post fight stand up comedy acts, is next level hypocrisy.
The same people moaning and clawing at their faces over it have absolutely no problem calling President Trump and his supporters “nazis,” and “fascists,” so I’ll pass on the faux outrage.

@VerbJitsu Whether it's a joke, playing a villain, or he truly believes it, Hokit's nasty insult is going to be the new thing the 9 out of 10 Americans who don't watch the UFC know about the sport. That makes it potentially damaging to the UFC, Rogan and Paramount. He fucked up.

Josh Hokit got a Full ride to Fresno University where he was a dual sport all American. He graduated with a 3.5 in political science. The dude is a high achieving, highly educated, individual. H s very obviously doing a bit to be a pro wrestling heel. If you don’t get that, you’re an ignoramus.

@BlueBoxDave Yes, Iran suffered the decapitation of its leadership. But it's also ridiculous to say "most of its military is gone." While Iran lost its navy and many aircraft, it retains many missiles and drones. Iran remains a threat to all of its neighbors and is defiantly undeterred.

Russia collusion never happened. This has been proven by evidence released by ODNI Gabbard. It was a terrible lie that tore this country apart, and was plotted by a weaponized intelligence agency under Obama. There is no monetary value that can be assigned to the damage this lie caused. It destroyed families’ relationships with one another, our country’s comradery, and our relationship with another nuclear super power (Russia) that could have resulted in war. Thank goodness the admin has started to restore that relationship, but HISTORY should reflect what actually transpired.

@mbs59er Matt, evidence is always required for an accusation to be taken seriously. Saying the LA Mayor's race was fraudulent just because it doesn't look right to you is meaningless. You can't convince anyone or arrest a perpetrator without specific evidence. I know that's inconvenient.

But where you start matters, which is why the obsession with "resolution" is a red herring. A film neg offers a lot more than simply resolution.

Best scanner out there would give you 8k for an IMAX frame with a close approximation on say dynamic range and color gamut, but none are fully equal...but then you have Zero presentation options that come close to that. Best you have is 4k

There are 500 IMAX screens in the USA. Only 20 play film. The vast, vast majority of you claiming you can see more resolution on IMAX are watching it on 4k laser, like any other theater. It's just bigger, and shaped like a TV.

I am not a fan of IMAX. I don't think it does anything. It's just a bigger screen. In a damn box ratio. Blown up television. Give me Cinemascope any day of the week. Just make a big IMAX screen and add the sides. It's only a box because of the limitation of that antiquated film format running through a camera gate that can barely take the stress. Most of that stuff isnt even shot in IMAX but "FOR IMAX." Which is just digital cameras like Venice 2 or Alexa 65. This fluctuating presentation format is also ridiculous. Do we believe that compositions matter? So you're telling me a filmnaker supposedly cares about every little detail about presentation but then doesn't care that vast majority of the movie will be played in theaters in some compromised cropping? I'd rather lock the image in a very specific format and make sure everyone sees it according to my intended compositions with edits calibrated to that eye tracking. The irony is there's nothing more dismissive of cinema than the idea that fluctuating compositions due to format presentation don't matter, whether it's IMAX or iPhone.

@ShuttleAlmanac @NASA The fact that 15 out of 40 active astronauts are women is a sign of major progress. I'm not bothered by this all-male crew anymore than I will be bothered when a future mission has (as I expect) multiple women. Seeing women on the lunar surface will be much more impactful.

@howardlutnick We should be thrilled Trump got the reflecting pool cleaned up in time for July 4th and the 250th celebration. But this is not a long-term solution. The pool has serious structural issues that will make the pool filthy again within a couple of years.

I stopped by the new Reflecting Pool. It is simply glorious. There were a thousand people, everywhere, taking pictures and just enjoying its beauty. Thank you President Trump for restoring our city’s national treasure.
