Each of the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust had a name and a history. During these Days of Remembrance of Victims of the Holocaust, let's try to say some of those names and learn something about their stories.

Ben Ferencz, iconic prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials, was also a tireless advocate for restitution for Holocaust victims. His family was presented with his posthumous Congressional Gold Medal at today's commemoration at the Capitol of the National Days of Remembrance.

#SaturdayNightArt This Passover Haggadah was used at the Passover seder in 1941 by inmates at the Gurs camp in France. The Haggadah was handwritten from memory by camp inmate Aryeh Ludwig Zuckerman. On the first page is a watercolor by Fritz Schleifer, depicting Rabbi Ansbacher delivering a sermon to a large group of people during the Yizkor prayer on the last day of Passover 1941.

The Sarajevo Haggadah is a beautiful example of how physical objects are vital for individual & communal memory & have histories that matter in pursuing truth & justice. Today's Capitol Hill Congressional seder honored the story of the rescue and return of the Sarajevo Haggadah.

The United States congratulates Argentina as it begins its presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance. At a time of rising Holocaust distortion and denial, IHRA's leadership is vital. We commend President Milei’s commitment to sharing truth and honoring survivors.

U.S. Embassy Vilnius was honored to join the Embassies of Israel and Germany and the Lithuanian Jewish Community to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day.  The event powerfully underscored the importance of remembrance, resilience, and standing together against antisemitism.  We must not only remember the horrors of the past, but also actively confront antisemitism in all its forms.
