@DocFlabby Thanks for sharing. I loved the project. I'm curious, where are you based? x.com/SteamIndieData…

Quick analysis on a very interesting title called Moth Terra. Shoutout to @DocFlabby, who shared with us in a previous post. As we understood, Moth Terra is an upcoming cozy tile-placing strategy game from Flora Games where, instead of building cities, you grow nocturnal gardens. Each tile is a living micro-ecosystem with life-spans and weather events. It's basically Dorfromantik for nocturnal pollinators with a biodiversity-education layer that isn't preachy about it. Very interesting. According to Gamalytic, it currently sits at just 120 wishlists and 10 followers, unreleased, no announced date, no demo yet. Data might be not updated, if you want to share with me additional data, that would be nice. store.steampowered.com/app/4086570/Mo…

Cozy-tile-laying shelf is one of the most commercially validated niches on Steam right now, which is great! Tiny Glade (Pounce Light, 2024) cleared 2.18M wishlists, 1.2M copies, and ~$14.4M from a chill no-objective castle builder. Dorfromantik (Toukana, 2022) hit 833k wishlists, 1.64M copies, and ~$14.7M from the original "lay tiles, grow landscape" loop. Terra Nil (Free Lives, 2023) — the closest thematic peer at ~$25 — cleared 988k wishlists, 415k copies, and ~$6.9M from a "reverse city-builder where you re-wild dead earth." Moth Terra sits roughly four orders of magnitude below the floor of this shelf, despite arguably having the freshest hook of the bunch (nocturnal ecology + real species + light-pollution mechanic is a category of one). The dev team is small, likely close to solo, with Sarah at Flora Games visible across X (@floradotgames), BlueSky, TikTok, YouTube, Discord, and a dedicated r/mothterra subreddit. The multi-platform social footprint is there. What's missing right now is a demo, a release window, and any real press wedge (Kotaku only has a database tag page, no editorial coverage yet). The Tiny Glade and Terra Nil playbooks both relied on a single viral tile-laying clip plus a Next Fest demo spike, the same playbook is available here once the team gets the build to a shareable state.

PinPow – Quick Research & Analysis Thanks @ShroudySoftware for sharing with us in your last post. PinPow is an upcoming turn-based roguelike pinball RPG developed and published by the small indie team Shroudy Software (roughly three people: developer, artist, and musician). The core idea is that you play as a hero who gets sucked into an otherworldly pinball machine. You battle through chaotic dungeons and enemies using strategic pinball shots to defeat the evil Pinball Wizard. Gameplay mixes roguelike progression with pinball mechanics: you strategize shots, upgrade your hero with new flippers, balls, and curiosities, manage risk and reward when looting treasures, solve puzzle-based pinball challenges in dungeons, visit shops or camping spots for upgrades, and expand your options through a "Pinchinko" machine. The game has a cute, cartoonish, and minimalist 2D style with fantasy elements. It is currently listed as "To be announced" on Steam with no release date or price yet. It supports single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing, and is available in English. store.steampowered.com/app/4178860/Pi…

Bottom Line PinPow has one of the more creative and distinctive concepts among the small indie games we've looked at recently. The roguelike + pinball hybrid is genuinely fresh, and the early teaser trailer has performed reasonably well given the tiny social media presence. That said, it is still very early and flying under the radar, with low wishlists and almost no external coverage. The small team will need to focus on a clear demo and steady content to build momentum before launch. If the unique gameplay can be communicated well, it has real potential to stand out in a growing but still niche corner of the roguelike genre. Right now it feels like a passionate small project with a strong idea but limited audience reach.

Similar or Competitor Games The "pinball roguelike" space is still small but growing with several indie titles blending pinball (or similar ball physics) with roguelike elements like procedural runs, upgrades, and replayability. PinPow stands out because it is turn-based and tactical rather than real-time physics-focused. Upcoming or close matches include: Cult of PiN (planned for August 2026) A roguelike pinball deckbuilder with high-intensity play, 100+ Glyph upgrades, multiple tables, and leaderboards. It has stronger current traction with 362 Steam followers and a well-received itch.io demo. store.steampowered.com/app/3144340/Cu… Runix: Pinball Roguelike (2026) 3D roguelike pinball where you build a "ball deck" and collect artifacts. It has around 166 followers so far. store.steampowered.com/app/3617290/Ru… DWARRF: A Pinball Roguelike Combines pinball, pachinko, and bubble shooter elements in a roguelike dungeon crawler wrapper. It is coming soon with a demo available. store.steampowered.com/app/3634710/DW… Released comparables include: Zombie Rollerz: Pinball Heroes Mixes classic pinball with zombie tower defense and roguelike elements. It has very positive reviews (83% from over 300 reviews). store.steampowered.com/app/915230/Zom… Pinball Storm: Lokanta A roguelike marble and pinball RPG with upgrades. It has mixed-to-positive reviews and is often on sale. store.steampowered.com/app/2642570/Pi… ‼ BALL x PIT (published with Devolver involvement) A fast-paced ball-ricochet roguelite with strong sales and updates. It is sometimes described as "roguelike pinball" due to the physics focus. store.steampowered.com/app/2062430/BA… PinPow's turn-based approach and RPG depth (upgrades, classes, risk/reward loot) give it a more deliberate and tactical feel compared to many of the real-time or arcade-leaning titles in this space.

Hey #gamedev community! Quick question about Steam: Does publishing a brand new #Steam page actually get an initial visibility boost from the algorithm, or is that just a gamedev urban legend? 🧐 What's been your experience with wishlists on day one? 👇

Rich people figured something out early. Relationships create opportunities. The rest of us still treat marketing like pure theory 😄 Indie devs should not underestimate this either. Say hello. Support others. Build real connections. Because visibility sometimes starts with a conversation.
