@JamesMelville They've closed the lines completely now. Hangs up on you. They randomly added £2.5k to my bill on January 24th having signed off my self-assessment in Dec. Accountant says its likely computer error (scary AF) & I've paid what I actually owe, but the anxiety it causes isn't funny.

Britain is permanently being put on hold. Taxpayers ringing the HMRC self-assessment phone line on Tuesday were told they could expect to wait for 40 minutes before getting through to an adviser. #TaxReturnsDeadline

@HMRCcustomers @Jenzy4685 I tried calling just after 8 and and it was already saying 'sorry we have extremely high call volumes and can't take your call' OR 'we have technical issues and can't take your call.' And has done since then.

@HMRCcustomers I’ve tried to call a few times now to query existing payment plan for HI child tax benefit, another payment due & automated service says you cannot take my call, lines are too busy & then terminated? Presuming you will be quick with the late fines @MartinSLewis

@HMRCcustomers when can we speak to someone on the phone? You've randomly added an extra £2.5k to my tax bill between December 15 when you confirmed receipt of my assessment, and now. My accountant says this is 'alarming' & likely a mistake but I can't get through on the phone 🙃

@TideBusiness is the app down? Repeatedly says login failed. I've emailed with no response and there's no number to call, ironically can only seem to get help inside the app. I am trying to run a business, this is very stressful.

WHAT is happening to journalism/PR? Someone sent a press release and I asked for additional it was potentially worth using. They've asked me to *agree to these brand deliverables*... For EDITORIAL. If you aren't paying, and I'm doing you a solid, this isn't how it works.

@StephanieYeboah I've noticed PRs trying to use these moves on journalists and editors too. Had a restaurant invite. They wanted a 3 page feature (worth thousands) in a luxury mag I edit. ALSO wanted me to *check in* on insta, a story and a post. On MY personal account. #nope

Their trips cost between $3000-$6000 per person. Let's say they use an influencer with 150k followers and mad engagement: That's over £150,000 worth of content they are trying to get people to make for free. I am truely gagged. These companies have no shame.

So. A travel website called JERNE is offering influencers the opportunity to travel to amazing places for at least a week. For free! Sounds great? In exchange, they want: at least 14 reels, 30-40 story frames & 1 feed post for every day you're there. In perpetuity. No fee.

This ☝️ might be a good agreement for an *influencer* ... But not for a journalist.

Just had a PR request to feature a restaurant in a magazine *in exchange* for a meal. Two things: 👉 editorial is never guaranteed. 👉 the invite says I *also* have to guarantee I'll post on my socials, tag the pub, #ad and 'check in' there.
