Think about it this way, would you? They are deeply entrenched in their beliefs. In my experience, conversations with liberals tend to go one of two ways: either they disengage entirely (which is their prerogative), or they argue with absolute intensity. Most consume only mainstream media, socialize almost exclusively within like-minded circles, and have been conditioned to view conservatives as morally or intellectually inferior. As a result, they absorb the dominant narrative without scrutiny, remaining largely unaware, or unwilling to acknowledge, the widespread hardship and policy failures unfolding across Canada under the current government. Their focus stays locked on Trump, while placing undue faith in figures like Mark Carney, often without serious examination. What’s missing is the willingness to set ego aside and engage in honest, adult dialogue, the very standard many of them claim to uphold. I’ve come to believe that a university education, while valuable in a specialized field, often fails to cultivate common sense or intellectual humility. It can even foster overconfidence in areas far outside one’s expertise. Looking back, every significant relationship I’ve had that ultimately failed was with someone who held strongly liberal views. At the time, I didn’t connect the dots. Now I do. If there’s a next one, he’ll be conservative.
