Millennial here. I bought my first house in 2009, about 2 years after graduating university. I had an entry level job making like $48k. I went to the bank with no money saved and got a 6% mortgage on a brand new 1600sf all brick house in a nice neighborhood outside Nashville. The price of that house, $189k, a $1,400/month payment after the loan was done. I also had a sub 700 credit score.
Even I can see how good I had it just 20 years ago. These "live your best life" boomers are out of touch with reality.

A house that cost you 100k at a 14.5% interest rate is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper than a house that costs 900k at a 3% interest rate.
Then factor in you lived in an age where a college education + car would only set you back 10k...yeah...this is why no one likes yall

The liability protection is worth it to use credit cards and pay them off monthly. The points are useful and I take full advantage of them. I’ve also had a few fraudulent charges made on my card and all it takes is a quick call and they take care of it immediately. The one time it happened on my debit card many years ago it was a huge hassle and I couldn’t use that account for 10 days. It took weeks to determine the charge was fraudulent. Never again. We used Ramsey’s advice to pay off our debt when we were young and dumb but some of his advice misses the mark.
