@8USC12

Not a “gringo.” Handle not chosen at random. Our immigration system isn’t “broken,” it’s dysfunctional, but works exactly as Congress intended!

My appreciation to the editorial staff at @DailyCaller for their willingness to publish this. Lawfare is bad, but the results aren’t always. And sometimes, like here, a favorable decision could result in a twofer. dailycaller.com/2026/03/24/asy…

🚨 LOCAL MAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR ALIEN SMUGGLING 🚨 A 47-year-old Corpus Christi man has been ordered to federal prison for attempting to smuggle two illegal aliens through the Intracoastal Waterway. @CBPAMO, @USCG, U.S. Border Patrol, and ICE - @HSI_HQ coordinated efforts to apprehend him. When caught, he jumped into the water to escape. Upon retrieval, authorities found a firearm in his jacket and two illegal aliens hidden on board. He will serve 36 months in federal prison, immediately followed by three years of supervised release. In handing down the sentence, the court noted his prior smuggling conduct and possession of a firearm on two occasions despite being a felon. He’ll remain in custody until transfer. #BorderSecurity #BreakingNews

@LouAZMerrijul Per the Department of Labor’s biannual National Agricultural Workers Survey (NAWS): ‘58% of crop workers have work authorization.’ (i.e., U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, non-immigrant visas, etc.).

@MendlovitzMark Notwithstanding that the DREAM component of the DIGNIDAD Act provides Green Cards outright, Dignity Program participants will be eligible for Green Cards not only through military service but also through adjustment of status if eligible. See SECs 2102, 2305(c)(3)(A) and 2304(c).

There's something else Congressional sponsors won't tell you about the "DIGNIDAD Act". Aside from being a full-blown amnesty, allowing lawbreaking illegal aliens to cut the line for permanent residency, it's also a bait-and-switch mechanism. A future Congress will almost certainly make them eligible for citizenship. They don't want you to know a path to citizenship for tens of millions of lawbreakers is an almost certain outcome.

@RepTiffany If it wouldn’t be asking too much, could we please also amend 8 U.S.C. § 1158 to require aliens to seek and be denied asylum in every country they pass through on their way to the United States if they can’t reach the United States by nonstop air?

If someone claims they are fleeing danger and seeking asylum in the U.S., they should not be turning around and vacationing in the very country they said they had to escape. I introduced the SAFER Act to put an end to asylum fraudsters.

@ccGamer13643136 @marcorandazza No he couldn’t have. He was offered Costa Rica exchange for a guilty plea, which he turned down as was his right, but then claimed he feared persecution or torture there, thereby creating a potential refoulement issue per the UN Protocol Relating to the Status of Refugees.

@marcorandazza The dispute is coming from Garcia. Why would he have a choice? He could have gone to Costa Rica a long time ago, if that was what he wanted. We're not his travel agent.

@Hanakookie1 @DoLesbiansTip That actually depends on the alien. If they are a Visa Overstay, they can obtain a Green Card here, generally with few problems. However, if, like her, they entered illegally, they can’t adjust their status while in the U.S., and it can take years to resolve.

@8USC12 @DoLesbiansTip No the issue is the servicemember. They act as sponsors and expect to have everything done in the US. You have to do this in the country they are from. From there it takes 90 days.

It seems like I was pretty clear that soldiers who marry illegal aliens shouldn’t be soldiers anymore, thereby preventing issues about not being able to reunite with them because deployments would no longer be a separation issue.
KZZ@Zorrow_kzz

@8USC12 @David_J_Bier Seems you like just us soldiers to be deployed and not reunite with wife following legal process. So much for not leaving anyone behind.

@hernandoarce This is a very interesting account of the story, Henando, because the Spanish-language reporting suggests he was here as an Exchange Visitor, which is good for Duration of Status, making their claim suspect. It’ll be interesting to see more pieces of his puzzle fall into place.

The REAL story : He is a Venezuelan-born who entered the United States legally 8 years ago on a visa. His work authorization ended recently due to a Trump administration policy (effective January 2026) that FROZE visa extensions, work permits, and certain green card processes for citizens of 39 countries, including Venezuela. He was detained by Border Patrol (not a random raid) on April 7, 2026 at the Sarita, Texas, immigration checkpoint while driving with his husband (a U.S. citizen) from the Rio Grande Valley toward Houston. Agents questioned his paperwork for hours; he presented immigration documents, but they cited suspect as OVERSTAYED and took him into custody. He was reportedly held in an ICE facility in McAllen. Every year the Dept of State allows approx 10 million foreigners to enter our country. Millions of them have overstayed!!!!
Joaquin Castro@JoaquinCastrotx

Last year, Dr. Ezequiel Véliz was named 2025 Resident of the Year at UT Health, Rio Grande Valley. Last week, ICE detained him in McAllen, Texas—ripping him away from his family, his life, and his patients. The Trump Administration’s mass deportation campaign is destroying lives. ICE is not going after the worst of the worst, they are targeting people like Dr. Véliz, who has been living in the U.S. for nine years, married to a U.S. citizen, and meeting the healthcare needs of a severely underserved population. Dr. Véliz should be released immediately.

@DoLesbiansTip It used to work that way, but it seems the approval requirement is gone—replaced by counseling through notification and a security review if the member holds a clearance. Still, even that doesn't always result in adverse action. nytimes.com/2020/01/05/us/…
