@Pirat_Nation > Parents decide act
> Parent's don't get to decide, adults must verify themselves too
The long time American tradition of naming bills opposite of what they do is still strong!
Congress has introduced a new bill that could change how every phone, laptop, and tablet works in the US.
The Parents Decide Act would require companies like Apple, Google, and Microsoft to collect your exact date of birth before you can set up or use the device.
If you are under 18, a parent or guardian would need to verify it.
The operating system would then let apps check your age to restrict content or require approval.
@Pirat_Nation Kid accounts already exist.
Microsoft Family, Apple account for your child, or Google Family Link.
Dear "concerned parents". The technology exists. Just turn it on, and boom, you can limit what your kid can see or do. Even pesky screentime!
@thembeddevguy@Pirat_Nation Sadly there’s a lot of retarded parents out there blaming the internet and electronic devices for everything… except admitting that they are terrible parents.
@HisNameWasRP@TheVaibhavShrma@Pirat_Nation Linux users will be Linux users. They’ll just make an alternative somehow to bypass it, maybe they are creating one at this moment.
@CounterWokeWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Not to be rude, that’s irrelevant to the evidence I just posted. Even without a majority it’s likely that those who are principled congress might pass a reform bill. Not for Trump, for the better of the American people and transparency of data/statistics.
Even so, you haven't contended with the point of Trumps current position.
Maga has started to split into pro Israel anti Israel factions and Republicans do not even have a supermajority.
Call me crazy, but I don't believe that if Trump advocates for policy change right now it pass.
Democrats hate his guts and around half his base is not happy.
@CounterWokeWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 And improving transparency, holding them accountable for failing to track all of its U.S. person queries in 2024 and 2025, which were required by law.
@CounterWokeWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Can I get the source to check out that info?
Hey… at least we both agree on keeping government in check with civil rights and privacy. It would be a lot easier for the FBI to catch both rabbits if it stopped chasing squirrels (victimless crimes).
@KyleOWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 The FBI compliance rate is not fully accurate, it’s even somewhat misleading. They have failed to release how often they search the 702 databases, and don’t account for untracked queries.
We need a better alternative to FISA 702; those proposed by the EFF and ACLU.
I do understand that government oversteps bounds and we rely on watchdog groups, investigative journalism, FOIA, ect to discover outside government statements. It's not perfect I agree.
However, 702 is used in large scale to disrupt drug trafficking and ransomware attacks.
In addition, the military success' of 702 FISA in my opinion proves it invaluable.
Furthermore, compliance rate as of 2026 exceeds 99% the DOJ and ODNI conduct extensive audits.
If you want to make an argument against it I'm all ears.
@KyleOWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Ok, here’s my response. The meme is obviously a satire cartoon to Trump initially opposed the bill in the past. Until later this year he supports the bill. In my opinion, the bill should either be killed (metaphorically) and replaced, or have major privacy reforms.
@KyleOWest@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Not saying FISA 702 is a Trump or maga policy, you’re right. Fact is that he wants congress to reactivate the bill without almost any type of reform to minimize data collection, hold US collected data by accident for less time or not at all, and demand more transparency from FBI.
That is not relevant.
If they want to abuse powers why would they need 702 Fisa at all?
They have special powers from FISA if they want to go outside those powers, that isnt the point of debate.
It is the powers that the continued 702 FISA provide at debate here.
CONTINUED.
Not a trump or maga policy but an inconvenient truth it expires. USA needs a real solution moving forward as just letting expire could be harmful to national security.
@Thenpc30118@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Also if you want to continue insults I'll just mute. I've had enough of being polite to people that incorrectly assume my stance then personally attack me for it.
@PinellasLP@DragonDan90 Are you referring to the continued bush era policy? The one that grew under obama and is currently expanded merely to provide time for negotiation on a permanent solution?
That specifically targets foreigners living abroad. Not citizens.
It is america first, not foreigners first.
@LPNational "Uniparty" is totally dishonest perception. People can see the dishonest focus on similarities but not differences. People see that Republicans are in many ways different than Democrats. LP can't grow very much with dishonesty.
