@optionscjp I honestly love the thought of this if I had more capital. You just have to have so much capital tied up to sell CSP or CC. For people like me, with a $50k portfolio, this would be hard to achieve. But I love the thought it.

Wow, this is awful. While this does not look good for @Fidelity, at least they have a branch you can drive to and speak to someone in-person. Imagine if something like this happened to a customer with @RobinhoodApp , @public, @SoFi, or another online only brokerage where you had to wait in queue to speak with a rep via chat or phone. And I’m a fan of all those brokerages. But the thought of something like this happening or not being able to access my account or funds is my worst nightmare…

A systems glitch at Fidelity deleted all the accounts of a customer They sent an alert to her that her email and phone number have been deleted, promting the customer to log on to their account When she discovered that all her funds were missing, she called Fidelity right away The reps did not see anything to her name, and asked her if she actually meant to call Charles Schwab They refused to connect her with the fraud department She had to drive two hours to a nearby Fidelity office, and called again, trying to contact their fraud department She found an account number, and shared it with a more helpful rep, who promised they would investigate They were ultimately able to resolve the issue, but it did take a lot of time, due to it being Easter Weekend on top of it The issue was very specific to this customer using a Tax ID when first opening an account, due to not having a Social Security Number at first. But somehow, the system at Fidelity became confused years later, when the customer used their Social Security Number. While this particular item may not be applicable to you and me, there are probably a ton of other glitches that could occur, which have not been thought out yet The moral of the story for me is to save account statements every month or quarter to your hard drive. And to have alerts set up, and regularly monitor my accounts.

@public Curious… should the price of the private company track towards the IPO price as IPO gets closer?

@public is freaking killing it, man. I just saw the other add about tracking private equities too. The innovation is next level! Two things if you are open to a suggestion: 1. I have not transferred to Public yet just because it’s a big decision. Currently with Fidelity. But I’m on the waiting list for the agentic AI brokerage because I really want to give it a try. @Sikes_ said he might be able to bump me up on the rollout, but would need me to fund my account. I had issues connecting via Plaid and so that has been the only hold up. Not sure if you’ve had this feedback from others, but thought it worth mentioning. 2. I compare Public and Robinhood to each other a lot because you have a similar UI/UX. Honestly, I think Public has Robinhood beat in almost all areas except for two that I’ve noticed. The charting seems slightly better at Robinhood. Can’t explain exactly what it is, but it’s just aesthetically slightly more pleasing and also allows the two-finger view of performance between two points in time. Secondly, the price alerts lag just a tad behind Robinhood. I have alerts setup in both apps to compare and my Public alerts come in a little after the price has been reached at times. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning. Just suggestions! When you innovate the way y’all have, you’re bound to get more product suggestions lol. Can’t wait to try out the agentic brokerage!

@TheRonnieVShow I did not lock in gains this week. As a matter of fact, I made one stupid trade that cost me so that’s a bummer. But still up major over the past month. I believe we plenty of upward move still to go.

Back in 2019, when legacy brokers eliminated trading commissions to stay competitive, I was skeptical that they had the cost structure to hold this up longterm. Some didn’t make it as independent companies and were consolidated into larger players. As for the others, I always thought they would start looking for alternate ways to charge customers, or find creative ways to bring back commissions. It looks like this is starting now … You can skip the $100 ETF fees at your old brokerage. Transfer your portfolio into Robinhood and we’ll match it thru 5/8. rbnhd.co/transfer-bonus

Anyone that knows me from Seeking Alpha (not on there anymore) knows I was the very first person to cover $ASTS and give it a strong buy rating. 5 years ago or whenever that was. I invested 6-figures in AST SpaceMobile in single-digits and the teens prices. Back then, that was a much larger amount of money for me. However, ASTS repeatedly missed milestones by miles. Anyone only following this stock the past couple years just has no clue how badly they have undelivered. Contrast that to $RKLB. Sure, both businesses are hard, but they held truer to their promises. This is why I doubled-down on Rocket Lab at the lows. I bailed on $ASTS and you know what? So far that has been the better decision and I believe it will continue to be. I still think ASTS is quite overvalued today relative to risks and track record. You can’t convince me otherwise because your arguments focus only on upside, not downside. Have heard them all. However for this latest mishap, Abel was able to deliver the satellite. It was Bozo Bezos who couldn’t deliver to proper orbit. More importantly, I’ve appreciated that Mr. Avellan hasn’t cashed out stock like say, $IONQ de Masi, in the years since I was in ASTS (thought he would). While I hate their slow progress, it’s that latter point - founder CEO skin in the game - as to why I decided to start getting back into $ASTS with my first buy today in the 70s.

The market was 💩 since October. Several sectors and many individual stocks had major 40-50-% corrections and are still very much in corrective territory even after the recent rebound. That doesn’t feel euphoric to me. But I’m being genuine here… would love to know why you feel that way?

@alc2022 It is kinda crazy when you think about it. What are they actually shorting? Other GLP competition? GLP isn’t the thesis anymore. Peptides are. Shorting $HIMS here seems like a good way to burn your money, but to each their own.

@Mr_Derivatives $CAR This is such a crazy scenario though, right? This isn’t $GME where retail is running the show. From what I understand, we have two major hedge funds controlling the price. How does this play out and how do underwater shorts get out of that mess??

It all depends on your goals for each specific account, man. I have a couple retirement plans through work and all my holdings are, of course, mutual funds or ETFs. But for my individual brokerage account, I enjoy stock picking and swing trading. It’s fun trying to outperform the market, of which I have by a huge margin. Obviously, it won’t always be that way, but so far it has. This account will likely never be in ETFs. Some people just enjoy stock picking and trying value companies…. and can make decent money by either swing trading, selling options, or whatever the strategy. My brokerage account is like my second job that I can use for some extra income. But I would never do this with my retirement accounts.

At what point will all of you individual stock pickers switch over to ETFs? Is there a number you’re targeting? Are you looking to trade options for a living? I’m curious. Genuinely. Unless I’m mistaken, which I 100% probably am, I feel like most don’t have their plan thought out this far What’s your plan when the stocks you’re buying actually hit for a multibagger? I wouldn’t know, but many people on here say it’s as hard to keep it as it is to get it Eventually everyone starts to play it safe right?

Okay. My current brokerage is Fidelity. Right now, I am “considering” retiring once the PDT rule is officially out. My @RobinhoodApp account was PDT flagged and I am no longer a pattern day trader anyway. When the rule is thrown out, can we also close our original individual accounts and have a fresh/new account? Without losing crypto or futures?
