A Masterclass by Singapore Airlines in handling delayed & missed connections 👏 SQ511 from Bengaluru to Singapore was scheduled to depart at 11 PM and arrive at 6 AM. My onward connection to Hong Kong, SQ892, was at 10 AM. But during takeoff, our flight had a technical snag. Takeoff was aborted. We returned to the gate. Engineers worked on it. Finally, we departed — 4 hours late. Which meant… connection missed. We landed in Singapore at 10:15 AM. And here’s where the MASTERCLASS began ✨

@ccg33k Mostly yes Because we get 10-11 rupees value for 5 points In Airline partners only if I use it against redemption of Business class seat I can get more value for money

Hypothetical question: If Axis brings back the 1:1 transfer ratio (instead of 1:2), will you continue to use your Group A points for Accor? If so, what are your reasons?

@Kenu73 Yup 👍 when I visited Ho Chi Minh while the city side was outstanding Outside city areas reminded me of India but it was clean and people were nice

I liked Vietnam and now I have been there twice but it's really hard to justify or say its better than Thailand. Thai food, vibe and Hospitality was superior in comparison. While Vietnam was also very good but a lot of things in Vietnam remind you of India but a but cleaner and probably 20/30% less chaotic. Visa vise Thailand and Sri Lanka are a better option. Price vise, Vietnam is cheap and when it comes to activities and things to do. Thailand has been top notch. I will probably again go for Da Nang but Vietnam didn't hit the way I expected it to. Lastly, I have to give to them for building a superior experience and an image for worldwide tourists that Vietnam tourism is even challenging Thailand.

@TransitPassport It can not be the worst till they programs like Radisson etc... at 1:1 it becomes equivalent/lower than other static value Group B programs like ITC at 1:2 You don't want to waste your group A points at a Group B valuation especially when there are gems like Aeroplan, Jal etc

@pdoshi3 @CardMavenIn I have redeemed with Singapore Airlines and got 1 rupee per point during peak season I see Japan Airlines gives best value but I’m not having plans for Japan and there’s the biggest problem with Airline Rewards structure

Are there no hotel redemptions beyond Accor? It is not end of the world imho.

@KrishnaDash93 @ankitXtech @cardio_guy Barely any hotels except ITC give the 4% and 10% in the current list So best case usage comes with flights but the reward points are not fixed There won’t be another Accor 😢🚶

With Accor out of the way for Axis, the base return game just got interesting 👀 Let’s simplify this: 💳 Base Returns (No tricks, no bonuses) • Axis Atlas → 2% (Edge miles) / 5% on Travel • HSBC Premier → 3% → ~6% via Accor • HDFC Infinia / DCB → ~3.3% (SmartBuy) • Amex Plat Travel → 2% (milestone separate) • HSBC TravelOne → 2% → ~4% via Accor 💡 The game is no longer about earning points. It’s about: 👉 Where you redeem them! Which card is your primary driver post this shift?

@Dileep3194 Yeah for F1, I book like this only, as the stays are really just for sleeping. Plus, this is Singapore during F1, so it's really expensive. Anyway i have booked Waterloo also but this is much cheaper so I will go with this most likely.

🚨 Accor Stay Plus - Rs 37k value! Booked Stay Plus for Singapore (during Formula One GP) for two nights and got Rs 37k value 🔥 This is just for one Stay Plus. This is a great example of how we can maximise this stay plus benefit. Value got: double the cost of Accor Plus and still have the other stay plus intact! 💥

Sharing this incident: Flight from Murmansk to St Petersburg. Everyone was quiet, all watching movies/Sleeping/Listening Music on headphones. Suddenly 20-25 Indians got up, started walking around the whole plane, passing food to each other, laughing and shouting super loud. The Russian guy next to me got really annoyed and gave this sarcastic smirk. In India we do this all the time, no issue. But abroad? Be a bit decent yaar. Then we say people target us. First fix our own behaviour.

True. In the video where the guys were offended by "No Indians" sign at a restaurant in Da Nang. I would be offended too. But then they go on to arrogantly say, Vietnam tourism & economy depends on Indian money. Umm what? How clueless do you have to be to think that?
sandeep rm@sandeepr755

@gauravsabnis I feel this stems from the mistaken belief that India is greatest and India’s culture is the best in the world. Too much indoctrination goin on - people act surprised when shown true facts

🧳 Baggage Experience •❌ Bags missed during transfer at Kuala Lumpur •Filed delay report at HCM airport •✔️ Bags delivered to hotel the same night ⭐ Final Take Good food & decent comfort, but tight transit + baggage miss made it stressful. Airline handled recovery well though 👍
