@_baldtires I know @Boeing had one until the big change about a decade ago when the Finance Bro's took over and all the problems started. He told me there were others at the big Primes. He, and his peers, painted aircraft pictures for the company as their full-time job.

You're missing the whole point. The policy had the effect they wanted. There were no surprises, or unintended consequences, the entire time. They new what they were doing, what price would be paid (in blood and damage), and they did it anyway. Donald Trump wasn't supposed to win in 2016, and when he did, they fixed that and went back to what they were doing.

Look, I get it, Dems. You think buying Greenland is dumb. You think trash-talking NATO is dumb. You think Hegseth firing generals is dumb. You think bombing Iran is dumb. Fine. Maybe you’re right. Maybe you’re wrong. I’ll buy you a beer and we can argue about it. But that’s not the point. Every administration in American history has done dumb things. Jefferson had an embargo that tanked his own economy. LBJ had Vietnam. Carter sold the Panama Canal for $1. W. had “Mission Accomplished.” Obama had…. where do I even begin? Dumb is bipartisan. Dumb is American. Dumb is fine. DC runs on dumb decisions. What NONE of them ever did, what is truly, mind-melting, pants-on-head, clown-car-fire, galaxy-brained, lead-paint-chip-eating, 50-IQ-Neanderthal-ripping-a-bong dumb, was pay NGOs by the busload to smuggle tens of millions of people, including actual convicted criminals, across a border we spent trillions pretending to defend, then hand them free four-star hotels, free cell phones, free ATM cards, and a court date in 2031 they were never going to show up for. That is not a policy. That is a SNL cold open someone forgot to write a punchline for. A five-year-old with a juice box could tell you that was Bozo-the-Clown-on-crack, Weekend-at-Bernie’s-running-DHS, “hold-my-beer-I’m-gonna-try-something” levels of stupid. My golden retriever could have run a tighter border. A Magic 8-Ball would have outperformed the entire Biden interagency. That’s the new threshold, Democrats. That’s the low-water mark. That’s the floor. That is the Mariana Trench of public policy and you personally rented the Titan submersible. Argue all you want about the Strait of Hormuz. Write your op-eds. Go on cable TV with Tom Nichols. Clutch your pearls about Greenland. But until Trump proposes something even half as mind-bendingly, bone-crushingly, civilization-forfeitingly brain-dead as what Biden and Kamala did with our borders, I genuinely do not care. Zero F’s given by me.

I don’t know why someone just now reposted this thread from Tammy and I also don’t know why I didn’t see it in the first place other than it was crazy at the time. But I just want you to know how much I love this thread and @HeyTammyBruce .

In the 90s I was a host on a talk radio station in LA, the same that aired Rush. I was president of LA NOW, & the liberal wkend host when he visited the station. He was so vilified by my then-crowd, I expected a monster. Instead, I met a remarkable, kind and encouraging man... 1/

Why would you want to put yourself, and your company, in a position of trying to figure out what foreign policy mission to fulfill and which to not? How are you and your engineers supposed to determine what is the right thing to do when the whole DC inter-agency process struggles with what is legal and what is ethical? Should the big 5 primes do the same with their missiles and aircraft?

Can you hear yourself speaking? It is not about guardrails, or policies, or EOs. Its about a Government contractor telling the the US Government what goals can be pursued and which ones cannot. Imagine training on a system, for a decade and when war comes, the contractor decides it doesn't like this one and pulls the tool. How does a contractor get to influence foreign policy like that. It is also dumb for the contractor - why do they want to put themselves into a position where they have to make a decision like that. Try to hold a large corporation to account for anything and see how evasive they become. How can something like they are proposing work? How can we buy anything if the terms of use are predicated on the ever-changing Board of Directors and CEO? Do they really want to be involved in a targeting process? Getting kicked out of the Pentagon and stopping this insolence is a blessing in disguise for Anthropic.

The eagerness for OpenAI to sign the contract on the very night their rival got fired is likely to be a lot more revealing than the contract terms, which in any event are ambiguous and unlikely to be enforced by a court that gives a lot of deference to the executive.

The irony here would be hilarious if it didn’t also remind me of the relentless blacklisting of every openly right wing figure in entertainment. Under Paramount’s old ownership, I got a call after I endorsed Trump in 2016 telling me that I should publicly retract it. It was a pretty clear threat of losing business in my eyes and guess what? I didn’t retract and they wound down our business. Every right wing person in that business who made their opinions known has had this happen. I have endless stories I could share. Hollywood desperately needs disruption, and to bring back films made for the 75% of our country who aren’t crazy instead of catering to the 25% of woke lunatics. I hope Ellison actually does this because it would be a beautiful way to correct decades of discrimination against right wing films, filmmakers and actors. Also, the freak outs over one studio doing this to great success would be delicious.
Variety@Variety

Paramount’s takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery has raised concerns among artists, who worry that Ellison’s coziness with the Trump administration could stifle free expression. “Ellison scares the shit out of me,” says one A-list director. “Are the movies they put out going to be catered to Trump’s taste? Are they going to start cracking down on content that they don’t find to be ideologically aligned with the right?” Read the full cover: wp.me/pc8uak-1lGXCp

Failure to pass the SAVE Act is a win-win for @LeaderJohnThune . Without a Save Act in place they are free to manipulate future elections as needed and because they fail to pass it they demoralize the GOP base - they lose the election and no longer have any pressure on them to do anything, because they are not in power. Then they get to fundraise off the rage and the stuff the Democrats propose. If they pass the Save Act, then they will have a better chance of winning the mid-terms and then the pressure is on again to do more.

Former German Chancellor Olaf Scholz: The entire dilemma in Iran came about because the British and the American governments overthrew the democratic government of Iran and replaced it with the dictator, the Shah, who was later overthrown in turn by today’s rulers, who then established a brutal dictatorship, unlike what many people had hoped for at the time. Had it not been for the overthrow of Iran’s democratic government at the beginning, carried out for oil interests, Iran would today be a very successful Western country

During the Chinese Cultural Revolution (1966–1976), student-led Red Guards brutally attacked professors, teachers, and intellectuals to purge "capitalist" elements, often in public "struggle sessions". Red August (1966): The violence escalated in August 1966, where educators, such as Bian Zhongyun of Beijing Normal University, were beaten to death by their own students.

Students in Austin attacked a teacher during an anti-ICE walkout. The scary part isn't what they did today. It's what they'll be doing in ten years. What exactly is the plan for when an entire generation acts this way?
