@MoonlightMLB You’re not wrong. And many, many many minor league players from years gone by made that exact choice. All I’m saying, compared to how it was even 10 years ago is a major improvement. They used to have to figure out housing and food for even less during the season

@butchbaccala My son is in that group and recently went back to traditional setup. Noticed immediate improvements in blocking and throwing. But will he be overlooked by evaluators if he’s not in the stance being pushed by so many?

As I watch all these young catchers in youth baseball today ages 13-18. When I watch all their throws coming from one knee all I see is below average arm strength and below average mechanics. Besides relying on their mitt to stop all balls it’s hurting their arm strength as well.

@AZTeamBates @NorCalU1 I look at the shirts of the crew. Peoria is city workers doing maintenance. Maryvale, Sloan park etc, those guys are paid by the teams and as a result there’s a huge difference in quality this time of year. Surprise is city workers too and their fields were much better this week

@Xaintreally @NorCalU1 Those fields are team controlled. The teams only pay the city gor fields used per day. At this time of year they only use 1 field close by locker rooms and no one plays on that field but the organization.

I’ve coached a lot of games, probably close to 700 at this Peoria sports complex. It’s tough to see how bad these fields have regressed. I don’t know who’s to blame, but this is not it. It should be better. It’s a spring training facility.
