Net-zero targets are all well and good. But how countries get there matters a lot. It's the area under the curve that matters for warming. Delay emissions cuts and you not only make net-zero less likely, you also make climate change worse along the way.

If only we were a rich, advanced country that could afford this sort of thing. Y’know, like Morocco (below) or Turkey. Maybe they could do something to help Britain. Like raise aid for us with a pop concert or something…

@Clinnick1 @railindustry @AvantiWestCoast @HitachiRailENG Has @railindustry forgotten that HS2 rolling stock was ordered 623 days ago, and that is certainly for main line rolling stock! But yes, even that is a long time ago for no more orders.

With @railindustry stating that @AvantiWestCoast deal for 805s and 807s from @HitachiRailENG is the last main line order placed, it means that as of 24/8/23 it has been 1,357 days since a new fleet for the UK main line network was ordered. 📷 Tony Winward.
