@AlfredBaudisch I do not think so. It is too risky for a business to rely on such an unreliable partner. Risks need to be diversified. Therefore, projects that can be done on UE will be done on UE. At least in case of anything there will be another source of income.

Prediction: majority of people saying that they will jump ship from #Unity will be back to it in a few days, as if nothing happened (remember last time?).
This is due to Techno-Feudalism: you're too dependent on that tech and the tech controls you, it's not just "your tool".

@tkexpress11 If everything is as you say, what prevented UT from introducing just royalties ~1% of revenue, instead of this bullshit?

I worked on an early, very different iteration of the @unity pricing changes ~1 yr ago
My thoughts:
1. Unity strategically had no choice but to make changes
2. Devs are upset, but it isn't quite as bad as it seems
3. Unity's comms & implementation wasn't great

@patricknoonan89 @unity Reinstalls don't count. Most likely, they use either a unique device identifier or have collaborated with stores. But it's still unreliable.
English

@unity What if a player uninstalls and reinstalls? Couldn't that be weaponised?

Today we announced a change to our business model which includes new additions to our subscription plans, and the introduction of a Runtime fee. We wanted to provide clarifying answers to the top questions most of you are asking.
Yes, this is a price increase and it will only affect a small subset of current Unity Editor users.
Today, a large majority of Unity Editor users are currently not paying anything and will not be affected by this change. The Unity Runtime fee will not impact the majority of our developers.
The developers who will be impacted are generally those who have successful games and are generating revenue way above the thresholds we outlined in our blog. This means that developers who are still building their business and growing the audience of their games will not pay a fee. The program was designed specifically this way to ensure developers could find success before the install fee takes effect.
We want to be clear that the counter for Unity Runtime fee installs starts on January 1, 2024 - it is not retroactive or perpetual. We will charge once for a new install; not an ongoing perpetual license royalty, like revenue share.
We looked for ways to lessen the impact on developers, and provide ways to bring the Runtime fee to zero. If you’re using any of our ad products, Unity Gaming Services or cloud services, etc. please contact us to discuss discounts.
We are actively listening to and following your questions closely. Please review our FAQ (on.unity.com/3PAiqHH) on today’s announcement. We also invite you to continue to discuss these changes with us on our forums: on.unity.com/3RmyLRx.

@unity Have you decided to kill the f2p model, or how should it work? You know that your fee for the installation is around of the average income from the installation? Are you trying to squeeze out almost all the income above the limit?

@RpsAgainstTrump @DavidSacks This war was started by the US when they started trying to neutralize Russia's nuclear potential.
English

@DavidSacks Umm, except for the little fact that this war, started by Putin, wasn't about Crimea, you moron.
English

@olex_scherba @elonmusk You lied so much that you yourself believed in your lie. Please remind me why during the Maidan Ukrainians shouted Nazis slogans? What did the Russian people do to Ukrainians that even then they wanted to kill Russians? Why did you commit the massacre of Russians in Odessa?
English

@elonmusk We Ukrainians just want our life, our land and our freedom. Russia wants the same: our life, our land, our freedom.
What kind of compromise do you suggest, Elon?
English

@elonmusk @KremlinRussia_E Mb better US President vs Russian President? lol
English

@JqSAV @adam_tooze Genius, Russia demanded this even before the invasion, but you refused to give such guarantees. Russia demanded guarantees of non-aggression against Russia, you also refused to give them. It was you, the West, who refused a diplomatic solution to the conflict.
English

@adam_tooze How about the US/Europe make the first move and put on the table the guarantee of no NATO membership for Ukraine and in return a guarantee from Putin for complete Russian withdrawal to the pre-invasion border.
English

@PalmerLuckey I'll ask you straight out, are you a Nazi? If not, then why do you support a person who is guilty of the death of thousands of people who died in the East of Ukraine? These people were his fellow citizens. And all this time he could stop the war by fulfilling the Minsk Agreements

@americanmcgee @ID_AA_Carmack Everything I like should be mandatory and everything I don't should be banned certainly pleases the majority of people.
Try being in the minority sometime.
English

@lweisenthal @McFaul Now we understand that the point is not that we have problems with freedoms and human rights, because you live well with Saudi Arabia. No, the very existence of Russia hinders you.
English

@lweisenthal @McFaul Russia, out of naive stupidity, abandoned its confrontation with the West and dissolved its alliance. The West "welcomed" Russia's peacefulness with humiliation and trampling on interests.
