Finally announcing my 1st Steam game! Brazilian Street Food Simulator. I'm making it alone on my free time, a genre that I love, in a theme that I love even more (Brazilian food). Wishlist on Steam or I'll quit. #indiegame #indiedev #madewithunreal #UE4

@jitspoe @NathanGDQuest set_meta and get_meta are part of Object #class-object-method-set-meta" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/clas… that means it is already part of everything in Godot (even RefCounted since it inherits from Object). By using metadata you don't need to add scripts. So it's a free to use Variant dictionary always available.

What's your preferred form of doing composition in Godot? Child nodes, resources, exported node references, function libraries, or something else? What techniques do you use the most?

Disk Voyager project in C still takes under 2 seconds for a full recompile in debug mode on my few-years-old laptop (with a Ryzen 7 4700U). Such short compile times have had profound effects on my development. Faster iteration cycles, the freedom to experiment and the joy of programming. I've recently seen some streamers who literally hit compile and then waited for a few minutes, grabbing a coffee or something while waiting. I can't even imagine what it's like to program in this manner. Granted, my project is fairly small, since I wrote everything myself. It's about 50K LOC. But still, I think the importance of iteration time is hugely underappreciated.

In #GodotEngine , i would like to be able to compose my scenes directly in the tree. Like if i drop a "Health" node in a scene, instances of that scene would automatically have some properties like "health" or methods like "take_damage()".

My PR for ubershaders and pipeline pre-compilation for Godot is up as a draft (likely headed for 4.4). The benefits are immediately apparent when running a game for the first time without a driver cache. Most of the stutters are gone! Left is the current master, right is my PR.

@ArturSmiarowski That was my impression too in the beginning, but once I finally understood the game, I unlocked the potential of the game and then it didn't feel linear anymore.

@AlfredBaudisch I haven't gotten very far in CoQ, but the start in Joppa felt very linear. The world felt mostly static except for generated details. There's an open world, but I never felt it was beneficial to stray from the questing path.

Some players ask me to implement a questing system in Soulash 2, but I don't want that. I don't think it's a good fit for a sandbox RPG game because it makes the experience more linear. That and I've been questing for 25 years. I've had enough! How do you feel about questing?

@tricky_fat_cat If I were to add scripting to these experiments, it would be with Lua. Lua is one of my love languages, and it ties so well with C.

Today I ported rImGui to cimgui, so it's now possible to use raylib + cimgui in pure C (i.e. the beloved Dear ImGui with raylib in pure C). I'm going to clean up it tomorrow and then publish it. #raylib #ImGui
