Thanks for clarifying, @Ed_Balloon. I run Marketing at @SuperRare. I created Lola. While doing so, I referenced the Art Hoe Movement, as I saw similarities b/t its values and crypto art. I’m a Black woman and I wanted to reference something cool from my culture in my work.

Okay 1. The art hoe bot is run by @_johnsonator who is a black woman! This makes sense why AAVE was useD the way it was. So my bad for attacking - I DO think there should have been better steps taken before introducing this - like me who has been here for a bit I was confused and pissed as hell I ain’t never know of any one on superare speaking with this tone - it’s important to let folks know I’m all about supporting my people - so this works for me because I now understand the angle Just needed context before that ! I’ve been in web 3 for too long seeing many folks black fishing so you can understand my trauma Now “ art hoe” makes sense to me

It’s terrible that Huerta felt like she had to keep this secret for so long in fear of “hurting the movement.” This speaks to a long-enduring attitude among working class organizations where sexual abuse of female comrades is silenced in favor of protecting the “bigger cause.”

Most people don’t live to see 96 years old. Dolores Huertas did. And for most of her life she had to uphold a legacy of a man that didn’t deserved to be upheld. Protected his life at the expense of her and the children of his that she secretly bore.

first of all, congrats on your work i can see the intention behind it and i respect that. but i do feel like the audience here might not have been fully taken into account. with references like this, context, audience, and positioning become especially important. coming from an archaeology background, i don’t really see references like this as neutral aesthetics. they’re tied to specific histories, identities, and forms of visibility. for example, i wasn’t even familiar with the art hoe movement before this. i appreciate learning about it, and i can see why it matters but it still feels like it was used outside of its context here. there’s a concept in archaeology called “entanglement” meaning is shaped through relationships and context, not in isolation. so when a term is taken out of that network and placed somewhere else, it can shift or lose its original weight. and that’s also why it feels a bit strange to see an ai agent positioned as representing a “community” in this way. that’s why the reaction wasn’t surprising to me. it wasn’t just about the wording, but about how and where it was used.
