@StempJames @1968Tv Keith Mansfield composed many of these, notably the Grandstand and Wimbledon themes. Of his work, the BBC Athletics theme was my fave, which I believe was actually written for NBC’s coverage of the World Series.

Back in the day when the BBC was number one for sport, they also had some cracking and iconic theme tunes. Sit back and enjoy the memories!

Heathrow in the sixties - only two holding stacks (Watford* & Epsom) instead of today’s four, and on departure you didn’t follow a SID but needed a lengthy clearance instead. Quite a few of the waypoints still survive today. *Fairly certain this was called Garston at one point?
