Ain’t gonna lie, maintaining Rich is a pain. One vocal group insists I need to change something. I change it. Another equally vocal group is furious with me because I changed it.

@VCBrags You don't necessarily need VC - depending on the business type.

A stray 0 in a @lyft press release sends shares skyrocketing! A more disastrous 0 occured in 2005 when LA Air Traffic Control lost voice comms with 800 flights The 32-bit software required rebooting every 2³² = 4,294,967,295 millisecs (~ 49 days) It hadn't been rebooted that month & ran to "0" - all comms lost. Thankfully a default system deployed before any accidents occurred. smh.com.au/business/compa…

It's really interesting how much my reach here has been gimped. Last year when I did giveaways they were completely out in five minutes or less and I'd get dozens of DMs This year they can last for more than a day and no DMs

Do you know any teenagers interested in learning to code in Python? Perhaps they're complete beginners. Or maybe they've covered some basics and want to go further. Maybe they've struggled with Python at school but really want to try again. I'm looking for a group willing to try out my new video courses for young adults (coming out very soon) and provide honest feedback Reply here or DM (or send an owl or pigeon…) and I normally never add this to my posts, but I will in this case: Please share for increased reach –– after all, some teenagers around the world are going to get some free Python courses!

When I started Textual, I didn't know if it would be possible to do something like this in the terminal. i.e. rendering a Markdown document fast enough to animate it at 60 frames a second. All in pure #Python

Has anyone else experienced this bug with ChatGPT voice where it occasionally decides I'm speaking in Welsh and switches to speaking Welsh back at me?

@willmcgugan To me a key line is a 1px stroke around a section in an image. Keyline is a printing term I believe. Please feel free to correct me.

What does the term “key line” or keyline mean to you, in web design? How would you define it?

@pydanny When I went to write my SaaS, I looked at Flask and then at Django. Flask needs you to make choices that as a beginner you don't know. With Django you know that sane choices have already been made. I went with Django. I discussed this at djangochat.com/episodes/horse… at around 7:50

I have to admit to being jealous of how perfectly this articulates what I've thought about Flask (or FastAPI) vs Django for years when it comes to beginners. bitecode.dev/p/beginners-sh… TIL: I love Flask and FastAPI, but don't believe they are beginner tools.

@JosieMcskimming @Optus @abcnews It was a failed network software update. Telcos can have risk-averse, robust testing before updates. Or they can save money and take a chance there are no bugs in the update. Very hard to undo a flawed update.

I wasn't aware that space was a format specifier for Python's f-strings when displaying numbers. Here's an example from my latest article. Can you spot the difference between the first and third examples? And it looks even more weird when the space is the only format specifier:
