👋🏼 it’s me. I am not the problem. And neither are you. This is a human being. Just a living, breathing, human being with a beating heart and a soul. A cyclist is a human being. That doesn't change when I put on lycra and a helmet. It seems it is easy for vehicles to forget that human aspect of cyclists when we hop on a bike. We don't change just because our mode of transportation did. There seems to be a disconnect from when we are meandering aisles at a grocery store, going to church, presenting at a meeting, picking up our children at school, to when we become a "cyclist". Suddenly, human life can be disregarded and compartmentalized as an inconvenience. Negligence and distraction seems easier than acknowledge a human life. What might save you two seconds, could end someone's life. I take advocating for our sport very seriously as do all of you. This sport is my world. I want to be the best human I can on and off the bike. There has been a lot of tragic news in our cycling community lately and it will be something that we will be facing for quite some time but we will continue to work to fight for change. It’s just a really long ride, but it will be better together. But know you are beautifully and wonderfully made. So let’s all look out for each other regardless of we are riding or driving or whatever else. Let’s take care of each other. I will stand up for you on and off the bike. And a big thank you and hugs to all of my partners and bike family that give me courage to be this human being 👸🏼 on a bike. 😘 Cheers to many more years being a human on a bike. Looking for advocacy / project ideas 💡 too! Also. I love how @LizKreutz captures 📸 all my human crazy whether I am riding or have my boots on the table at @wedusport. She is a 👯‍♀️ genius human and I am so grateful for her and the team.

It’s ok to be scared. It’s ok to feel uncomfortable. This “c” word, this building, and this hand scared the shit out of me. But just like I learned during my cycling career, it’s go time when you feel this way. I am writing this post right now where I took this very photo using this hand. My heart rate is calm. My body feels strong. And I am proud of this hand. I no longer see these things as something I am afraid of. You see, when you meet fear with strength and you fight hard, you learn how to find true confidence in yourself. That very confidence not only leads to you winning your battle, taking the lead in the war, but most importantly, learning how to perform when it matters. Essentially becoming comfortable in uncomfortable situations. This concept truly is the foundation of cycling as well. Another reminder how important this sport has been in my life, and a new spark I have to add more to how I coach cycling to others. But for now, today, I am going to drive home proud of the fight I have delivered when it counted. Thank you cycling for giving me the tools for this battle and saving my life.

@tomdanielson I can totally empathize. I was hit a dragged by a car in 2021.I lost all my extensors on my right hand and had they had to take skin from my belly to use as a graft for the back of my hand. Your life will change slightly but things could be a lot worse.Wishing you the best!🙏🏽

Here is the moment when I see my hand for the first time. I was pretty shook honestly. I then felt sadness come over me. I felt weird for the rest of the day and found myself avoiding even looking at it. After doing a training session I found the strength and confidence to look at it again and took a photo I will share with you on slide two. It’s going to take sometime to get used to this. But today I feel much better and excited that it is out of the cast. I’m not allowed to do anything with it yet, but I am moving my fingers and that’s big progress. I have to say Dr Donaldson did an incredible job and I am so happy I have a path forward. I just want to be open how that path feels. I am focused on the opportunity I have ahead and I am motivated for this new challenge. But it did hit me how different my hand looks, and even how it looks nothing like it feels. Going to take sometime before I am comfortable with this. However, I know I did not choose the comfortable path. Instead I chose the winning one. Just like sport, to win in your personal race it requires overcoming massive adversity.

Fourteen months ago, I spent the day in the hospital with @TamaraJewett after she was hit by a car. The tough as nails Canadian has never given up. Kudos to her coaches Suzanne Zelaro and @MALVAOK on the prep. Her 73 min run split one of all time greatest. @TriathlonCanada

Ugo De Rosa was a true maestro of frame building. It was my dream as a kid to ride one of his bikes. Meeting him was an honor, what a humble gentleman. And when De Rosa sponsored GFNY, it felt unreal. My Protos 2 is still the best bike I ever had. RIP, and hugs to @DeRosaCristiano and Danilo.

@Askthefitter Could need wider shoes, wider stance width and or accommodative varus forefoot wedging as well as inadequate external foot rotation

@Askthefitter Could be narrower stance, but more likely external foot rotation needed and varus wedging.
