Stranger Things has me wondering.. in the 80s did most kids have this freedom to just run around at all hours of the day and night?

Up early - working on a criminal case! Service animal handler was DRAGGED by an Uber driver after the driver refused the handler a ride due to their service dog! We were contacted by a service dog handler in Massachusetts who was not only denied service 3 times by @Uber, in less than two weeks, due to his service dog - but injured after being dragged along the road as the driver tried to accelerate away while the service dog handler was still partly in the vehicle! During the third incident the situation escalated dramatically. After the driver rolled down the window and refused service, repeating “no dogs,” the handler attempted to show Uber’s own service-animal policy on his phone. While the handler was partially leaned into the open window, the driver suddenly accelerated, dragging both the handler and his service dog to the ground. Thankfully, neither sustained life-threatening injuries, but the outcome could have been far worse. Denying access to a service dog team is illegal under both state law and the ADA—but using a vehicle to harm or endanger a disabled individual crosses into felony-level violence. There were witnesses, and the police were called. The driver was later located by police. This was not merely discrimination; it constitutes multiple criminal offenses under Massachusetts law, including: - Assault & Battery on a Disabled Person (M.G.L. c. 265 §13K) - Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon — the vehicle (c. 265 §15A) - Reckless Operation to Endanger (c. 90 §24) - Leaving the Scene After Causing Personal Injury (c. 90 §24(2)(a½)). Uber's own written policy, based on federal law, requires drivers to transport riders with service animals, prohibiting refusal due to allergies, phobias, or "no pets" rules; drivers can't charge extra for them and face deactivation for violating this This is not just a "denial of service," or “just a traffic incident.” It’s a criminal matter, with multiple overlapping criminal offenses — including a serious felony possibility under the Massachusetts (M.G.L. c. 265, § 15A), for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (ABDW) statute. We stand firmly with the handler and his service dog. No person with a disability should ever be placed in danger for attempting to access transportation, nor should any service dog team fear retaliation or violence when asserting their legal rights. We will continue advocating for accountability, stronger enforcement of service-animal protections, and the safety and dignity of disabled individuals who depend on their service dogs every day. We will advocate for this individual as they are looking to pursue criminal charges. More importantly, this individual wants to raise awareness and make Uber accountable so no other handler has to endure this treatment. We are looking for an attorney in Massachusetts willing to discuss this with them/us to determine next steps. This must stop!

@KylieJaneKremer The Texas hill country is notorious for flash floods. Unfortunately these rivers and streams can go from a slow stream to torrent in a matter of minutes with very little warning. We seem to have this kind of horrific flood event every 20-30’ years.

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how the flooding in Texas became so devastating so quickly. Why not evacuate?? Then I saw this: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes, around 4 a.m. That doesn’t even seem natural.

@Maudeannmarie @outer_momologue I’ve been that kid and it’s horrible for everyone. This needs to be a conversation with gran. If you both can figure out the triggers, gran can make some temporary changes before the visits. If she’s willing. If not, then that’s a different conversation.

@outer_momologue Except...every single time I take my son to visit grandparents for 3 days his eczema flares painfully all over his body. It sounds extreme but these things actually do have an effect. But weighing against the importance of family it just means my son has to suffer, unfortunately.

Admin post: Well friends... you did it. We're getting a yard! And a house. With ramps and an accessible shower. And dog space! Homes like these are rare. Like finding a needle in a haystack. And the housing market is hot so we made an offer and it was accepted. It's over our pre-approved amount so we needed to come up with the rest as cash. And thanks to you, we've done it. Anything extra will go to the few extra modifications we need to make (there's a couple of rooms that will have no doors so I fit and it would be nice to widen them, and we need a stove with front knobs so I don't light myself on fire, and one interior ramp) and stuff like window blinds instead of sheets. 😊 And maybe those things that go in cupboards that make it so you can pull the stuff out and all the dry goods won't have to live on the cupboard. And eventually get the laundry set up on the mainfloor. But it's functional while that stuff happens. I can get in and out and use the bathroom! We've been looking for awhile and this just hit the market Thursday evening. We're going into it with @HeyPistol and his dad. There's plenty of room for everyone and we need someone to shovel snow. Splitting the mortgage and utilities makes it feasible but coming up with my portion of the down payment was going to be a challenge. You folks really came through. I don't even have the words to express my gratitude right now. I'm kind of in a state of disbelief. Chesnyy is going to have a place to run around, even in the winter. Inevitably she can get a younger, bigger brother. And we can plant a raspberry bush in Kuno's honor as he loved it when we found bushes in the alley and could pick a few. I'll keep you all update during the process. This is so exciting. And kind of scary. But no more worrying about the elevator not working. No more worrying about having to move to another city to find a place to rent if my landlord sells. An easy option for winter pottybreaks. The chance to even start a little dog training business from home. All the stuff I never really thought possible is now right there. ❤️ All I can say is thank you for helping us through this journey. I've been on a bit of a self pity trip since Kuno's passing. Now I need to get my butt in gear and start rolling into the future and being the best me I can.
