@txcannaco We all know that Phil McGraw and Dan Patrick are buddies, right? They serve together on the US “Religious Liberty Commission.” This is not a coincidence.

They’re bragging about Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick coming back to shut down cannabis reform.
Alex Berenson@AlexBerenson

BTW - @DanPatrick - the Texas lieutenant governor, who led a nearly successful effort to criminalize THC products in Texas last summer, cruised in the Texas Republican primary last night. So standing up to Big Weed may not be political kryptonite, at least for Republicans.

Weed is degenerative. It directly inhibits your hormones, dopamine, and mitochondria. It shrinks your hippocampus and suppresses REM sleep. It slowly erodes your motivation, drive, stress tolerance, cognition, memory, executive function, and will to power. Not to mention drastically increases likelihood of having a psychotic episode. This is a direct result of THC's neurological mechanisms. Its facts

It’s been reported that the U.S. Hemp Roundtable is trying to carve out an exception for low milligram beverages in the federal hemp ban. We’ve seen similar things from beverage manufacturers in Texas, who also tried to cut a similar deal in the midst of SB3 this past year. One thing is clear, that you need to be absolutely sure about who your advocacy group really represents in this battle!

to be honest harris county elections are already under a state administrative microscope so i would love to know how being under "administrative oversight" would be different

with the 2026 election approaching, TX state sen. paul bettencourt appears to be filing a complaint that activates his own 2023 bill (SB1933), which was written to target ONLY harris county (houston) and could trigger putting it under state "administrative oversight"

I believe their position is focused on restoring access to CBD and ingestible THC products, provide a federal framework for states that dont have regulations and allow states to regulate hemp to whatever level they see fit. Which is hardly removing 95% of cannabis products. They have made a decision not to fight for synthetics and THCA flower for political, not moral reasons.

@solsticeSNDL @cantripguy As someone effected by this who has lobbied and spoken to the Texas Legislature here are some facts you should consider, Texas has no voter initiated signature referendum process. Anything we vote on must be proposed and approved by the Legislature who are funded by Big Alcohol.

I’m a lifelong Republican. But I have never been a straight ticket voter. I value fiscal responsibility, personal liberty, and small government. I have voted for libertarians, independents, and democrats during general elections. Because people > parties.

@JenatxR @DanPatrick Oof, the f-bomb. Must’ve hit a nerve. Interesting you think banning all hemp will stop the gas station synthetics - they’ll just go underground. The people who’ll suffer are family farms, legitimate small businesses, and responsible adults. But congrats on your big win!

Aww, looks like someone didn’t like getting their synthetic junk circus called out for what. it. is. Sorry your talking points fell apart the second actual facts entered the national chat. Look at that vote. And here’s the real twist for you: it’s not ‘fear-mongering’ when the cannabis community itself is now calling out the same high-potency, lab-cooked Franken-THC you’re defending. When the legacy folks are all saying, ‘Yeah, this stuff is fucking trash,’ maybe—just maybe—the problem is you. But keep hiding behind that private profile and typing tough. Take your own advice on the day job, Molls.

UPDATE: The U.S. Senate just passed HR5371 to reopen the Federal Government. Notably, the resolution prioritized a ban on intoxicating hemp THC, similar to the bill passed by the Texas Legislature.   In the midst of the Federal Government shutdown, the U.S. Senate felt so strongly about the THC issue as to make certain a ban was included. The US Senate passed the intoxicating THC ban by an overwhelming bipartisan majority – just like it passed in the Texas Legislature.   The THC ban has been a priority for me, and I appreciate Congress addressing this important issue at the national level. I believe this ban will save a generation from getting hooked on dangerous drugs.

***Marijuana (THC) is NOT safer than alcohol!*** It is essential to note that a shot of alcohol does not cause psychosis, like a swallow or a hit of THC can. Alcohol is a water-soluble drug, so people experiencing harmful effects usually recover within a few hours; however, THC is a fat-soluble drug. The detrimental effects, like psychosis and cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome, can be long-lasting. The Canadian Medical Association Journal. People with cannabis-induced psychosis are at a 241.6-fold higher risk of developing schizophrenia. cmaj.ca/content/197/27… A study published in Psychological Medicine, which analyzed comprehensive health records spanning five decades and involving more than six million people in Denmark (where low-potency cannabis is available), estimated that as many as 30% of schizophrenia cases among men aged 21-30 might have been prevented by avoiding cannabis use disorder. nida.nih.gov/news-events/ne… Another study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry looked at 6,788 patients diagnosed with a drug-induced psychosis from the Danish Civil Registration System and the Psychiatric Central Research Register over 20 years. They found that the patients with cannabis-induced psychosis had the highest conversion rate of 47% to schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. This was more than any other drug, including methamphetamine. psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/ap… #governmentshutdown2025 #hemp #THC @tedcruz @RandPaul @realDonaldTrump @JDVance @RobertKennedyJr @AGPamBondi @FBIDirectorKash @dbongino

@stillgh4y @housingkiller @AubreeAdams4 She’s also working with Wholesaler Beer Distributors of Texas. She’s repeatedly claimed in state senate and house hearings that alcohol is safer than THC, while calling cannabis use “chemical slavery.” I’m telling you, she’s paid off.

It’s not surprising —the hemp industry continues to deceive the public and call this a ban on hemp, when in fact it’s a ban on hemp-derived THC. Farmers can still grow hemp. The hemp industry exploited a loophole in the 2018 farm bill, which made it easy for them to make false medical claims and sell these dangerous THC products in many locations. Also, International criminal organizations infiltrated this industry, and now it’s entirely out of control. The language in the bill to reopen the government closes the loophole. That's it. The federal government is correcting its mistake. If the hemp industry wants these THC products to be legal, why don’t they prove their products are safe to consume and get them approved by the FDA? I actually know the answer to that question. I’m just calling their BS out.
